Seems like we are getting a hang of things over here. 7 days. Yellows and blues. .5 unit seems to let him be more stable. I like that...although we would rather be just a touch lower. He is much happier these days. I think he pooped too :-D

I still see some neuropathy (tremors in front left paw, walking on hocks sometimes), but the circling is now gone. Yayyyyy!

I got a little chicken about today when I got a 113 at +10, so I fed him a 1/8 can and 10 pieces of hard food. I knew my husband had to go out to a meeting and wouldn't be home at noon to check and feed him if we needed to. We see the vet tomorrow for a checkup.

It's always great to hear that a kitty is feeling better and feeling playful. Elie's numbers have been good today, too.

trying to remember - are you giving him methyl B-12 for the neuropathy?

fantastic news that the circling is gone! you must be so relieved.

i think the higher numbers you have overall today are likely from those 10 pieces of dry kibbles that he got early this morning. do you recall if you gave Elie kibble on the 14th as well when you had that 79 at preshot? that could explain why he was high yesterday during the day as well. some cats will be high for several days after just a bite or two of kibble. it may have been clearing his system when you saw that 113. the 1/8 can you gave him probably would've been just fine.

i think you'll find giving a little bit of canned food will bump his BG up faster and it will leave his system faster. usually at +10 the BG are going up up up and unless you're testing again and it's dropped below 50, you don't have to do anything to bring it up at that point.

@mybuddybinks lolz on the pic. He sometimes gets frustrated with the laser..why won't this stupid thing die! ;-)

@Julie. He is on Amino B Plex. Twice a day. it is a liquid we 'zip' down his throat with a dropper. We are super relieved no more circling. But I hear that it could take months for the nerves to heal and his hind legs to regain their strength. We got a bit chicken this morning and fed a bit of kibble. My hubby had to go out from +2 to +6 so wanted to be safe this am. Umm we did feed him some kibble on the 13th when he had a PMPS of 67, not sure if my hubby snuck some in on the 14th without me knowing lol. Men :-D :-D

Thanks for the support! Elie is very frisky today. Laser, jumping on my desk (though I don't approve lol), running to see the dinner delivery driver, playing with toys! :RAHCAT We see the vet tomorrow for a check up, so hopefully we stick on this trend. We tried to sneak some laxatone in his food to help his poop, but he was on to us lol.

some people get their cats to eat butter for a hairball relief or a laxative. on a longer term basis people use miralax.

i haven't heard of that one, but usually people use the methyl b-12 for neuropathy. i've heard great reports on it - haven't used it myself so i can't help with the dose of it or the miralax, but if you edit your subject line with the question, someone with experience on them will let you know.

we use cosequin for punkin for arthritis and it has been really effective. most older cats have some arthritis.
