3/15 Julius update general insulin question

Hello all... I am anxiously awaiting my meat grinder....I have reduced Julius shot to .25u x day per the lantus board as Julius had a bad low episode last week. I am planning on doing a curve on him tomorrow since I am home from work. I tested him at 2:30am today and he was 263, then down to 237 at 7am and after he ate he was 223, after his .25u (about 2 hrs) he was 131 and when I got home he was 130. I wish I could have tested him mid cycle today! I just could not get out of work to come home. My question is do you think that maybe his pancreas is starting to function a little better? He does not spike much when he eats and it is taking less and less insulin to get him into the 100's. He seems to be happiest when he is around 150.... if he is under 100 he seems kind of out of it, and just rests a lot. I want to tailor his dose/ treatment to him you know? any thoughts?
 
I suspect that Julius is so used to being in higher numbers that when he's in normal BG range numbers it feels weird to him. As he spends more time in the 50 - 120 range, I think you'll see a change for the better.
 
thanks gang!~ I am using a freestyle light meter.... the strips cost a fortune (about $1 a piece...) however it uses less blood so that's why I bought it! Thanks again gang!
 
I have to ask...how did julius get his name? one of the most inspirational books i have ever seen is about a cat named Julius..
