3/15 Jack: 249@amps, 237@+3

Hi Christine, I hope you get the insulin and it gives you the results you are expecting! Sorry to hear it’s been so aggravating :(

Wishing you a calm and boring drama free weekend :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Christine:) Was just catching up with what's happening with you guys for the past few days.
I'm happy to know that you're able to get the insulin brand that gave you good numbers.
Did you get the insulin resistance test results yet? What are these tests? It's the first time I hear there are tests for this. I hope you get good results and that Jack doesn't have insulin resistance.
Good luck with the insulin shot time. Sounds like you have a very early morning drive to NYC. I call this nothing o'clock. hours I don't want to be awake in.
Wishing you a peaceful weekend and hugs to the herd :joyful::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I had never heard of Biocon or Mylan - I hope the Mylan gives Jack more movement. :bighug:

And I hope you also have a peaceful weekend (goodness knows you probably need it!). Scritches to the all the furkids, and gentle hugs to you.
It's all glargine, just different manufacturers. Walmart pharmacy had the lowest price when Jack was first diagnosed, and they dispensed Mylan. He has been on that for over 2 years. Last time I renewed they gave me Biocon Biologics- everything I saw said it should be the same, but some of the more experienced members here suggested there may be a difference is the stabilizing agents or something else that was causing higher numbers.

"Nothing o'clock"...I LIKE that! PERFECT adjective for that time of the day!

Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (RIA)or IGF1 and Insulin Autoantibody or IAA are the two tests they do for insulin resistance. Jack tested negative in 2022. Cushing's is also a condition that could cause insulin resistance. I am looking into retesting the IGF1 and testing for Cushing's since he takes so much insulin and still has high numbers. According to the more experienced members, once they test negative for IAA they are always negative, but the IGF1 test has been changed some, so there may be value in retesting. These are expensive and not comfortable for Jack, so I'm waiting on estimates so I can budget and a conversation with the vet so I can plan. This is a few months off, but I need to start budgeting now.
