Well, first Cobb learned to play ping pong. Now he has decided to bounce into today like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. I mean, come on Mr. Liver! I had the entire situation under control. There was no need to freak out like that! Cobb was perfectly fine in his blues and greens, but noooo, you had to go and flip out because you thought the numbers were too low. Will you ever learn? Smh...

Anyway, Cobb seems to be handling the bounce fairly well. A bit hungrier but not ravenous.

R question...because I slept through last night (yay)...should I have tested a little more and when Cobb's a at hit, say 250, given R then to stave off the 300s? I knew he was headed up at +3.5, and I know I didn't want to shoot it then, but should I have set an alarm for a few hours later and then given the R instead of waiting until this morning?

Re: 3/15 Cobb AMPS 327 - R question

Unfortunately, I don't have any answers for you, and I hope someone will come by shortly to help you. Hang in there, you're both doing a great job. :YMHUG:

Re: 3/15 Cobb AMPS 327(.1R) - R question

You could have shot R past nadir. From what I can tell at a quick glance, you haven't used R that much. If that's the case, you probably want to get some extra tests so you can tell how Cobb is responding. The downside of shooting past nadir at night is that you sacrifice your sleep. (Just a thought to consider...)

Re: 3/15 Cobb AMPS 327(.1R) - R question

Sleep aside, I guess I'm asking is that what I should have done?

Cobb is not really responding to the R this morning like he normally does - although I suppose it could be heading off a bigger climb. Usually he drops about 60 points by now, from the few times I've given it.

Re: 3/15 Cobb AMPS 327(.1R) - R question

It could very likely be that the R is holding the numbers from rising further. Unless Cobb's pancreas is going to tell us what's going on, we'll never know.

Re: 3/15 Cobb AMPS 327(.1R) +3 302 - R question

yes, i think you could've done that. you could probably have even used R at the +3.5/198 because when you can see a bounce starting, you know it runs over the usual L cycle nadir like a mac truck. There won't be a low point in that cycle. At that point, a tiny bit of R *might* have held him flat and prevented the bounce. I suppose it probably would've been safest to have waited past the expected L nadir to shoot the R.

But if you'd done either of those scenarios, you'd have lost your night's sleep. With a baby and a diabetic cat, you probably needed the sleep! :-D

and you wouldn't want to give R at +3.5 if he wasn't starting a bounce and you were anticipating a normal L cycle nadir.

Looks like he might even make it to yellow numbers with your use of R today. If you want to see what would happen, you could use it again after about +7 if he's holding flat or beginning to rise again. Might kill the bounce entirely.

You're still very much in the "what will happen if I give R at this point, under these conditions?" information gathering phase. Given that you're using tiny amounts and you are available to monitor, i think trying out different scenarios with Cobb to see how he responds is reasonable and safe.

I'll add for lurkers that these suggestions are specific for Cobb because he has a high dose condition, not for everyone to try out.

Re: 3/15 Cobb AMPS 327(.1R) +3 302 + 7 267

He is coming down into the yellows. At +7 we're at 267, would you give another drop of R or let him work to clear the bounce on his own from here since this morning's R dose has run its course?

Re: 3/15 Cobb AMPS 327(.1R) +3 302 + 7 267 +8 281

it's your call. looks like he's basically flat. if you want to bring him down into blues, another 0.1R would likely do that. if you don't want to have to monitor as much, you could let it run its course.

if your question is, is it safe? i think it probably would be.

glad to see him out of the pinks!

Re: 3/15 Cobb AMPS 327(.1R) +3 302 + 7 267 +8 281 (.1R)

Cool. I gave another drop to see how he would react. He's high enough that it will hopefully bring him into the blues and maybe set up a blue PS tonight! fingers crossed!

The second drop of R brought him down, but it looks like Cobb food spiked into the 300s at +2. Any other night I would consider giving him another drop of R since I would be up anyway, but the laundry is done, the dishes are done, and somehow (shhhhhh) Matty is in HIS bed, not mine!!! :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup Plus, he's already changed positions and hasn't woken up flip_cat flip_cat flip_cat so I am hopeful! (Not optimistic, but hopeful.)

On that note...I am going to sleep!!!

Ah man Mr. Liver! Such a buzz kill  I've been watching Cobb's numbers and wow  I meant to stop in for a dance but passed out in my chair before I got ANYTHING done

Have a great sleep Suzanne!
