Hi All!

First, I just wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone that has offered input and advice over the last few days. It is so much appreciated!

Second, after considering all things, and seeing how my girls are going to put me through the ringer on this FD journey, and since I could have possibly purchased a used Vespa with the amount of $$ I've spent on AT2 test strips in the last few months, I've decided to bite the bullet, put my anxiety on hold (as much as possible), and switch to a human meter.

I have enough AT2 strips to do a comparison for the next several weeks, so I can get myself comfortable with the process and the differences.

This group has been a lifesaver (literally), and has given me the confidence to also try the human meter (again), since so many of you also use one.

Thanks so much, and please keep your fingers crossed for me and my girls! :bighug:

What meter are you switching to?

I am going to try the Relion Prime again. I tried it before, and just got frustrated with the errors and weird numbers.

But, I was also new to testing and poking, so it could heve been a lot of user error. ;)

If I still have the same issues, people have suggested others. LOL!

Hi! I realllllyyyyy recommend skipping this step. There is no conversion. Comparing will drive you bananas.

I had a learning curve from AT2 to ReliOn Prime too - here's what I do:
(1) Meter is OFF.
(2) Insert strip, make sure strip is recognized and is asking for blood (from this point you have 2 minutes to get a sample)
(3) Play vampire and poke my kitty
(4) Line up the tip of the strip in the middle of the blood drop and watch it get sucked up (it's my favorite difference between AT2 and ReliOn Prime lol)
(5) Hold cotton round on my kitty's ear and wait for the reading

With lots of love, a former AT2 user (now ReliOn Prime User) :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi! I realllllyyyyy recommend skipping this step.

It did drive me nuts last time! Ha!

I want to keep the comparison going for a little bit, because I want to talk to my vet. Although she's not very responsive lately, and we have been butting heads a bit, so it might be in my best interest to skip that step also. Lol!!

Thank you for the RP tips! I'm nervous, but I think it will be better for us all!!

:)

Rather than comparing, I'd just keep your AT2 (high-up and far away :p) in case you want to do a curve for her. I kept mine and had to hide it from myself lol.

I'm sure you'll figure it out! I was definitely frustrated at first because I was used to the AT2. Give it a few days and you'll get the hang of it!

I wouldn't waste my breath or my time talking to your vet. I have to agree with Susanne on the value of doing comparisons - I did a bunch of comparisons before settling on a human meter that I liked...and there's just no making any sense of it at all...

So take that meter and put it away - with the strips - use it for a curve day in a couple of weeks - you'll feel better about the whole thing...and much better than listening to what your vet might or might not have to say about the matter - vets typically only know what the company reps tell them...sorry to be so blunt about it...

Have a good night and enjoy your new human meter and those inexpensive strips :)

Want to add my voice to the chorus of "please don't waste pokes, strips and time trying to compare the AT and ReliOn Prime". :)

Are you changing to a human meter for both kitties? The SS needs a small formatting change to reflect the change. With the human meter, greens are 50 to 99 and lime is below 50. I can make the changes to your SS to reflect the switch.

I started new sheets for both girls; I will update my signature line tomorrow when I start using them. Thank you for the offer, though! I'll keep the old AT2 sheets on hand in case I need to refer back. My life is spreadsheets, so I'm fine with multiples. LOL!!! :woot:

Multiple sheets makes it hard for people looking for trends/patterns in BG over the last few weeks/months. They have to open several sheets before they can give you advice. Better to have a single spreadsheet with both.

I was just thinking of that after I posted! Hard for you all to see the history if it's not there!

If you are still willing, I'd love your assistance!

Thank you!!
