Good Monday, Everyone,

We still are not used to the time change in this household. Rusty was confused, as were his beans. It's too dark in the morning now! But we got up on time, had a good test, good shot, breakfast (2 installments), a brief play with Red Ears, and a lounge on the radiator. In the middle of the night Rusty woke me up again with his unique variation on the head butt (he doesn't butt his head, he presses his head with great force into my head and leaves it there!).

A few flurries this morning with temps in the mid 20s. We are expecting a major thaw this week. I don't think we'll be skiing! Today I will pick up my package from ADW at the post office: the FreeStyle Lite meter and strips and the AccelWell travel pouch--a travel cooler for insulin that is supposed to keep insulin at optimal temperature for 12 hours at temperatures up to 100 degrees F. If this really works it will be a great thing to have, since I always worry about insulin in our cooler on trips, that it might be too cold or get too warm.

Healing vines to all kitties and beans in need of them. And thoughts and prayers for the people and animals of Japan. The nuclear developments are really scary.

I really wish they would do away with this time change thing, it's so hard to adjust.
Hope the insulin cooler works out, sounds like a wonderful idea.

Hope you and Rusty have a lovely Monday

Thank you for the morning smile :-D

Can't wait to hear how you like the new meter/strips.

Re: 3/14 Rusty AMPS 131

'Morning Ella. Very nice blue for Rusty this morning. I'm sure you like green better, but blue's a nice color to start out. I think :-D
I'm anxious to know how well the travel cooler works.

Re: 3/14 Rusty AMPS 131

Come back down to the greens Rusty, you know that's your spot. I always love hearing Rusty's routine in the morning. Sweet on his own special head butt.

I'll help with the ropes for Mannie, but maybe I'll need to go part way up to get to him. Can you hold us both? -- Tess

Very Nice Amps this am--Rusty is a traveling cat so that sounds great a FD travel kit!!
Hope you get in one more ski day! I know you like it...
Have a great Monday--HUgs from us! :-D

Re: 3/14 Rusty AMPS 131

my little civvie, anya, does a head non-butt like that too. she's a pusher!

we use the freestyle lite and i like it. don't have any other experience to compare it to, but it doesn't take much blood and i like its memory and simplicity. the strips are expensive buying locally - $65 for 50 strips! i've bought the last couple of boxes from Hocks - they're $27 for 50.

have a great day!

Re: 3/14 Rusty AMPS 131

Morning guys - such a late start for me today - I too hate this DST....

Nice start for Rusty though - I bet he hits green soon.

Bummer on the thaws, and so spring begins. or so I hope! Enjoy the walk to the PO and the arrival of your ADW order. I hope they ship mine soon - waiting on the confirmation.

hey Rusty! You and Tess are gonna need alot of rope. I am wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy up there. Trying to get down, but wow, one really floats when you are this high. See you soon, once i exit this rotten place. ~~ Mannie

Hi again,
I may have given a partial fur shot tonight (not again!): faint smell of insulin. Other than that, we had a really good day. Yesterday Rusty was sneezing more--than usual--, so today I gave him some L-Lysine in his food at lunch and dinner and he seems good. Thanks for the tip, Phoebe! My package from ADW (American Diabetes Wholesale) was at the post office and I am most pleased with the service and the quality of the products. I haven't tried the FreeStyle Lite meter yet (I want to try it on myself and do a comparison with the ReliOn tomorrow), but the kit has not only the meter, lancet device, lancets, and a test log, but also 10 strips and a bottle of test solution. The warranty (if you send it in) includes a replacement meter whenever they upgrade the meter. The travel cooler looks really neat. Tomorrow I will activate the cold pack and try it out (by putting a hiking thermometer in the case!).

Off now to visit condos. I finally got my hair cut today.

Ella,

If the cooler doesn't work, try one of the Frio products. coolerconcept.com

There was a gentleman on my Human diabetic board who traveled all over the world using one of the Frio products. I have heard really good things about them.

What a great day for you Rusty! Love that PMPS. No doubt another trip to the greens for you coming up.

YAY! ADW arrived. They shipped mine today, so hopefully it will be here soon. It's good to read that you liked their service, etc. What fun - you have new toys to play with!

have a great evening guys!

Re: 3/14 Rusty AMPS 131, +5.5 84, +9 93, PMPS 104

Thanks, guys. I ordered one of the cooling wallets Claudia recommended this evening for possible use at Camp Stu (where we have lots of power outages): You don't need refrigeration at all--activated by water--and the insulin stays cool for 48 hours on a single soak of the wallet in water!! Now I have two cooler options to play with. Lots of play here!!

I never knew those things existed Ella. Nice job finding them and sharing (and Claudia too).

I hope most of the insulin got in there. I can't feel the needle come out sometimes and I always smell insulin lately. (the syringe safety sleeve probably).

Rusty is looking good. Still smiling about the head butt/push.

Nice day for Rusty and it's always fun when the beans get new toys   I'm hoping that was not a fur shot but even if it was, he doesn't go up too much.

Have a great evening.

Oh my, don't we wish furshots didn't happen. It is difficult sometimes with long haired kitties. We all have a few. Better tomorrow. Hope your weather breaks soon. You have had a rough winter up there.
