After a fantastic day yesterday for Mannie it was so disheartening to post a HI reading this AM. I knew he'd bounce: he went down fast after his PMPS to a 42 at +2. I had truly hoped it would not be as bad as it was. As I've said a thousands time before I don't know what I could have done to prevent such a nasty hard bounce. I had to fed 18% last night just to maintain a 50-55. Easy to blame this piece of poo meter too: knowing that HI would have been a possible 450 instead with my old one- either way it's still ugly. so........... we start anew today and hope for a slow descent from the high rise penthouse on the black floor. My happy face is in place (see?: ----> :-D ) Lots of hugs and pets and scritches to a great kitty. cat_pet_icon

and this poor tired bean overslept again - 30 minutes late.... I was forgiven however. Mannie feels great his AM - despite the high number. I had purrs for test, a happy feed me dance while I dished up breffis. Breffis was consumed with gusto - not one crumb left in his bowl. He disappeared after eating. hmmmmm..... - knew where he was: waiting, hiding around the corner waiting for the civvies to finish their breffis so he could raid their bowls, sure enough... sneaky little devil sneaked around the corner... foiled by the bean! Poor guy - he went off to the comfort of the nanners. Napping now in progress, with his paws wrapped around and hugging three nanners. :-D  All is well in MannieLand.

Have a great day everyone! I am off later this AM to visit my DGS. I hope too that the heavy rains we have this AM will subside some so I can go for a morning walk. paws crossed. :-D

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

Sorry that Mannie is having such a terrible bounce, I hope he comes down nicely for you.

I also hope the weather clears up and you can enjoy the outdoors some today.

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

Overslept?????? Looking at all the testing and numbers when did you actually sleep to oversleep?

Come down from that ugly bounce Mannie. I hope you have a nice day Michelle. :-D

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

Mannie, Mannie, come down outta there!!

Michelle, I wish there was a way to keep him from these bounces. Maybe you need to rethink your foods to try to even things out? Anyway, getting rid of that meter will help. Hope you get you new ones soon. I'm picking mine up this morning.
I hope that your rain lets up so you can go for your walk. Have a great visit with your DGS!

Ella
Yo Mannie. We need to get the ladder and rope for you this morning! I'll be over soon.
Rusty

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

Hi Michelle
Well that scared the you knowwhat out of me when I saw Mannie's numbers.
Of course that was before I saw the day you ha yesterday with him.
Honestly. I will have to send Max over there to teach him that he doesn't have
to bounce like that and it's okay to stay flat and low.

I hope he gets out of those numbers softly and quickly.

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

michelle - you're not too far away - i'm in the willamette valley. i clicked on your photos link and watched the salmon run - isn't December the wrong time for a salmon to spawn? that little tiny stream didn't seem big enough, either.

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

Wish Mannie would bounce in lower numbers for you--These Hi are scary-Hope he comes down this afternoon! Maybe Mannie should go into his nanner pile before he gets tested, & be all relaxed.
Come on Down Boy & make us smile!
Michelle Have a great time seeing your DGS today! Big Hugs from us!!

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

morning all!

Hi Randi - :-D Send Max please - maybe Mannie can learn something from one of the pros. And me too on the out of these numbers softly and quickly. It will be a long day if I have to see black and red all day....

Hi Ella - yep, maybe reevaluate the food. I dunno.... he gets Merrick for the most part. I don't think that is the culprit. Perhaps I can try the LC with karo for the drops. I wonder if that would be better. Might be worth a try. and yes on the meter! I ordered mine on Saturday morning, and don't have my shipping confirmation yet - I hope it comes today. -- and yes on the walk, me too - still pouring out there. bummer. but DGS will be nice - it always is.

Hi Iorwen - thanks!, and me too.

Hi Miriam -  well... lets just say that the alarm was set, i apparently did not hear it, and woke up 30 minutes late... and overall, not much sleep time. late night, early morning.  :-D ~O) ~O) and thanks - I think the day will be a good one!

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

Oh my goodness Mannie! What a huge bounce and a ugly bounce, too. I know you can bring it down some today, Mannie. Michelle, you must be exhausted after last night so you deserved to oversleep. Glad Mannie is still feeling good despite the high number.

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

Hi, Michelle.. wow on the #s, you keep such a great attitude & it has to be hard seeing the scary #s, Baby has hit a few 300s & it totally freaks me out and I have to convince myself she isn't dying ohmygod_smile
What new meter are you going to get? How very exciting! I agree.. maybe you can stick to LC/MC to see if that helps raise a bit & surf? I dunno.. everyone is different on what they suggest.. ECID & personal preference.
I hope Mannie comes on down & that you both have a great day!

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

Hi Julie - I missed your post when I just posted mine... wow - you are close! yep on that salmon run. The creek here is very small, I have yet to find the source, but does gain momentum as it heads toward the sound. I ma off of the coast of Puget Sound. Even at that point it isn't more than 1-2 feet deep. it has always amazed me that it supports a salmon run, but it does. We get Coho and Chum in this creek, and they run very year from mid November to mid December, anywhere from a small run of 50 fish to a bigger one of 500. It is quite the spectacle to watch these guys make their run.

Hi Roni - oh yes, so agreed. scary, ugly, stressful - even when one knows the reason.  on the nanner fix before testing - maybe that's it! nice and relaxed and mellow... love it! :-D

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

aiyee! I keep missing posts... sorry guys!

Hi Georgia - yep, a little tried, but once the day gets going things will be fine. oh yes on the bounces - heavy heavy sighs from the bean.... and yes he could care less what the numbers are - seems totally unaffected, things are normal as they are every day. good for him!

Hi Nicole - yep, ecid, and maybe I need to play with food during these bounces. I really dunno... I use to use the maxima - just a simple basic meter, and only switched as it is to be discontinued. A few of us have heard however that they will continue to make strips, as long as there is a demand. so.... back to the maxima. I have also ordered a freestyle lite as a back up. and thanks - should be a great day - looking forward to it, and better numbers for the boy. :-D :-D

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

My happy face is in place (see?: ----> :-D )

 What else can you do. ohmygod_smile

Have you considered Lev for Mannie? Why do some people with bouncy kitties try it?

Hang in there Michelle and enjoy your Mannie approved time away with your DGS :)

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

Aiyeeee! What a bounce, when will these kitties learn? I know it's awful and you know it will soon pass, but still these numbers do get to you.

It's a great day to get out and see DGS. Hopefully those ugly numbers will be gone when you get home.

Mannie! I'm on my way too, with extra ropes! Did you take those nanners up there with you? -- Tess

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

Good grief, what a unique sugarcat you have, Michelle, that he could be always in such good spirits with such fluctuations going on in his little body!

I just slipped in to say "hi" and good wishes for Mannie today. I'm off to run a dozen errands--yuk. That is, if Tessie Lou's spot check isn't too low. As a newbie, I'm finding it hard to leave her for very long at a time. DH and I went to a matinee yesterday--gone for 2 1/2 hours--and I secretly couldn't wait to get home to check on her. DH thinks I need to get off the FD train once in awhile. He means well, but I would rather be home where I can keep an eye on her and her civvie brother, T.J. (who ate the poison lily a month ago and is running high BUN levels--another story). I'm guessing all of us momma beans have this in common, am I right? ;-)

Well, I'll check back on Mannie when I get home. Slow and easy, Mannie, please!

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600

Hi Michelle, I was freaking on your behalf, when I saw those numbers, until I saw yesterday's, and last nite's.
Oh man, those bounces suck, but you are familiar with them and know they will clear.
In the meantime, it's hard on the bean, I know.
Love that boy and his 'nanners
I brought one each to my grandkitties, on Sat. It was said, that they never played so silly. They kept stealing the things from one another.
I thought of Mannie, when Romeo was laying on both of them.

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600, +4.5 513

513 @ +4.5. at least it is headed down. :-D :YMSIGH: :YMSIGH:  :-D

Hi Barb - yeah, it will clear when Mannie and his internal parts are ready. Tough on the bean. -- too fun (!!) on your grandfurkids and the nanners! Mannie would be so proud! I love the thought of them stealing them from one another   , and then the sleeping on top. How fun is that! It is all so Mannie.

Hi Sandy - oh yeah, they broke the mold when they made him... and I know on the worry, and the wanting to check on them all the time. Even as a "seasoned veteran" you still do that. I do make sure though that on a daily basis I take time just for me to do something that I really like that is non FD related. It just helps to keep it all in perspective. WOW on T.J. - I did not know that he had done that -scary stuff. I hope all is well there and that the BUN values will improve. ---- a given i think on all of us beans having the wanting to be there thing in common. we form such a bond with them. :-D

Hi Ann - oh I know. I had so hoped he would not do this... even though I knew it was coming, one could tell by his +6 last night. yep - it starting to clear already... I hope he can keep it coming down and not do that spike at +10 like he usually does. expected, but I hope not... paws crossed!

Hi Karrie - right you are! What else can you do. ----> :-D and yes - considered Lev, as I too have heard some folks with these bouncers use it, and successfully. I really have to think about it. The late nadirs and when I need to shoot is a concern. I will have DGS sitting duties coming up on 4/1 when my DD goes back to work so.... i need to see it that will work for us and Mannie and what may have to be a new shoot schedule. I'm wondering if I will be on the road at nadir time... so - may wait until this babysitting thing gets up and running and see how Mannie's care fits into the scenario before making the decision. Right now all that and the lantus is doable. ?????

TESS, RUSTY! Get the rope!!! HELP!!!! I am so way up there..... but ya know?: I can see Florida, and California, and Africa and Canada, way up north canada.... and the sky is so blue! I can see the snow storms dumping, and the rains raining, and the sun shining everywhere. it's kinda cool..... uhhhhhh NO! What am I saying!!!! The black for is scary!!!! OK, calmer now... working on exiting this nasty place... ~~ Mannie ~~ uhhhhhh.... send the niptinins and the niptecates too.

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600, +4.5 513

Well, it is only a number, albeit an ugly one. He will come donw. Guess he has to zoom up like he zooms down. After all, he has to maintain his status as "Rainbow Kitty". Hope he drops but not too quickly. Enjoy your DGS, hope the rain stops. Oh, that rain in the PNW, makes beautiful environment but some depressing days. Have a good one.

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600, +4.5 513

Oh Michelle...you worked so hard for those great numbers last night and Mannie....why did you have to bounce like this? I am sure you are totally exhausted; maybe he's just giving you the day to rest before he kicks in again. He'll come down. I am so happy to see your happy face....you know how he does and he'll be back at those 50s before you know it.

Mannie..how can we help you.....daddy's home..want him to make you a strong round of niptinis????

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600, +4.5 513

Morning guys - or is it afternoon - i dunno....

Hi Barbara! oh yes... only one number in a sea of thousands, as ugly as it may be. so true on the zooming...  one must maintain ones status as the Rainbow Kitty... --- we have a momentary sun break! right you are - all this rain makes for such beauty, and the gray dismal days - i've gotten good at looking through it all, and even finding nice things in all that fog, and drizzle, and rain ....

Hey Marjorie - well yeah on last night. HC gravy feeding those 50's - he did not want to come up. the whole time i kept thinking - oh boy i see ugliness looming, please do not let it be so. silly me! I will take it as a day off, and get some things done, see my DGS. He's headed down, and hasn't taken the express elevator, so maybe this one won't be too bad in the long run... i so hope he does not spike at +10... paws crossed!

Gracie - yes!!! Send niptinis, niptecates! Tess has the rope, but it won't go any higher than the yellow floor. that probably is a good thing! see you soon - I hope. I could so use some pool time.. ~ Mannie

Re: 3/14 Mannie HI, +1.5 600, +4.5 513, +11 524

Hi Michelle,
I'm so late in getting to your condo and sorry to see Mannie so high. I can't wait til you get the new meter to compare. I hope he comes down but slowly. Hang in there.

Mannie, what's going on there - too many kitty cocktails at Gracie's pool party, or where did we go last night? I think Maggie had one too many!

Re: 3/14 Mannie +11 524, PMPS 504

This day can not end soon enough. 504 @ PMPS

Thanks Christie. :-D We're trying. What else can you do, you wait it out.

Hi Ann - thanks, me too. It shipped today, so hopefully soon. It will be nice to have the old reliable back. Can't come soon enough - it is just so depressing to look at today on his SS and see all black.

Hey Maggie - I dunno..... my bean says not too worry, it's a bounce or sumthin', whatever that is, and it should go away soon. I hope so.... and I dunno... where did we go last night? hmmmmm.... ~~ Mannie

Re: 3/14 Mannie +11 524, PMPS 504

What does flat black mean? It must mean green tomorrow! St. Paddie's Day is coming this week, Mannie. You've got to practice to get ready for it!!

Hi Michelle, Glad to hear that your supplies have been shipped. ADW is in Florida, but the package got up to our obscure corner of NY State very quickly, so maybe your's will too. I sure hope the black is over and that tonight will be a nice, safe yellow so that you will get some sleep. The visit with Nicholas must have been a nice distraction from FD today!!

Ella

H e l l o o o o w Mannie! I'm up on the ladder as far as it will go. I'm about to throw you the rope. Catch on and come down!
Rusty

Re: 3/14 Mannie +11 524, PMPS 504, +2 326

Whew....glad to see he is coming down!!! Hope you had a great day with DGS.

You know...I don't know what you could have done differently last night....you couldn't keep him above 50s there for quite some time even with the HC..what do you do?? Just thinking here...and you know Mannie pretty well and may have long ago tried this but what does he do with karo? It comes off pretty quickly so I wonder if he would bounce as much if you could give him some karo, bump him up, and then use the 18% food less? Just a thought but has no basis in Mannie reality.

Re: 3/14 Mannie +11 524, PMPS 504, +2 326

326 @+2. I guess Rusty must have been able to get up high enough on that ladder, toss that rope far enough, so that Mannie could grab hold. They seem to have pulled him down some....

Pink is better Mannie, but slow and steady OK, I sure don't want to see another amps like the one we had today. Be cool bug guy, OK?

Hi Barb - I LIKE Ella's theory - it is a good one. :-D

Hi Ella - nice theory - works for me! yep, I can see Mannie planning for ST Patty's day already! It seems he is done with the black, down to pink now... i sure hope he stops in the yellows, so that we don't have another horrific bounce tomorrow. paws crossed.

Nicole - many many thanks!!!

Karrie - a ka-zillion thanks to you too.

Rusty --- i'm reachingggggggggggggg and I think i got it........ PULL ME DOWN! Please!! ~~ Mannie

Re: 3/14 Mannie +11 524, PMPS 504, +2 326

Hi Marjorie - just saw your post. Yeah, I know, and thanks, on last night. He stayed at 51, 55 for close to three hours - and that was with 18% gravy. When I've used karo before, when he has been at 30, over at 40 for an hour, it normally will bump him up 20-30 points, when used with 18%, and that's just a drop. I have not tried it with an LC based food. Maybe that might be worth a shot, see how he responds. I dunno.... I am anxious to get the old meter back, see what kind of numbers it shows, and go from there. Ya know I can repeat my mantra of its just one series over and over again, but when you look at an SS for a day and all you have is black straight across, well the stress level is horrific - even when I know better. ah well.... it's just one cycle. we are coming down.

Re: 3/14 Mannie +11 524, PMPS 504, +2 326, +3 233

Yes, yes, yes! Nice to see these slowly decreasing numbers tonight. Yay!

Re: 3/14 Mannie +11 524, PMPS 504, +2 326, +3 233

:-| really don't know what to say to you, Mannie...

Re: 3/14 Mannie +11 524, PMPS 504, +2 326, +3 233

Ya know I can repeat my mantra of its just one series over and over again, but when you look at an SS for a day and all you have is black straight across, well the stress level is horrific - even when I know better.
I understand....just from the point of knowing what numbers drive me crazy. And I know you know Mannie best; some days it's a crap shoot as to what works, isn't it? I'm glad he's coming down...knowing him, he'll be in blue in another hour!

We're busy with Gracie tonight; I'm going to go to bed for a while...Mike sounds like he's coughing up a lung so he can't stay up all night. Hope Mannie continues down.

Re: 3/14 Mannie +11 524, PMPS 504, +2 326, +3 233, +4.5 140

man...i'm just glad i got here late enough to see the blues!

Re: 3/14 Mannie +11 524, PMPS 504, +2 326, +3 233, +4.5 140

233 @ +3
140 @ +4.5
YAY! we made blue which is really nice! :-D I will sit here and hope though that, after dropping 400 points in 5 hours, we don't bounce through the roof in the morning. paws crossed a thousand times over.

MJ - I love that - I will have to keep the pic for future reference. :-D that's my boy!

Hi Sandy - YAY - it is good to see him leave those ugly numbers - a relief in a way. Now if he will just stay there that would be great. :-D

HI Marjorie - sorry Mike is still sick - poor guy. I bet he said he'd stay up with Gracie anyways. and yep - it can be a crap shoot with Mannie. the best laid plans can be in place, and no matter since he changes them, and all we can do is react to what we see.

100 @ +5.5. I fed Mannie some 11% MC, to hopefully hold him steady, keep him from dropping further. hopefully it won't trigger the bounce. Paws crossed for a nice surf. He should be at nadir now.

NI NI for me, with a planned mid O-dark-thirty spot check. paws crossed that I wake up for the alarm. :?

Hi Ann - I wonder.... for him: probably so. Crikey: from a HI, aka over 600, to a 100 in one day. 525 to 100 in what 5-6 hours??? omg! and I was feeding this.....
