Long bad day at work. :( It's only Monday and wishing it was Friday. My hubby is watching Married with Children Reruns on TV. I remember this show so well from when I was a kid and it makes me reminisce of younger years and easier times with no responsibilities. Ahhh the good ole days! LOL

Hubby was able to monitor Ozzy for a few hours today after his AM shot time and at +4 he was still at almost 300. I suppose he is bouncing even though he is on cycle 6-7 of this new 1U dose. Hoping he hits some blues tonight.

We have been supplementing both kitties meals with rad cat raw for some time now by mixing it in with canned food in 2-4 of their timed meals (they get about 8 small meals per day). We don't put it in the auto feeder, rather they get it on their plated meals (first 2 meals of each cycle). So far they have been doing SO well with eating the raw and every once in awhile (like tonight) I will just give them one serving of raw only. I haven't made the switch yet to making our own cat food, and the rad cat raw would be expensive to serve them only, but seeing how well they are taking to raw food is definitely encouraging me to want to make my own. I have been talking about wanting to make my own cat food for quite some time now. I don't know how some folks do all raw when they use the auto feeder because I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving down raw during the day for hours at a time, even with freezing pucks. I leave my house around 6:30 am and their last day time snack is at 1pm. That's a long time for raw food to defrost and possibly soil. Curious about how any of you other raw feeders do the timed meals or if they just limit the feedings to the first few hours of each cycle. Please share your experiences if you are reading. Tagging @Taffysmama as she is an exclusive raw feeder.

Thanks!

You can research rad cat raw here

It's really hard to say how one cat food has affected my kitties. I do feed them canned food as well. I am just adding it to their diet because it's a more species appropriate food, being that it's all raw. Rad Cat uses egg shells instead of bones for the calcium so this might be better for beans wanting to limit extra phosphorous in their raw foods (if you don't make your own). I can say that with all the food changes, after the massive GI upsets we went through and tons of vomiting on my carpets and awful stinky poos, both kitties' systems have finally settled (also attribute that to the probiotics, SEB, and AV juice), and their fur is noticeably softer. I also kind of notice they are shedding more but may be because we are finally getting some warmer weather. But their fur....wow so soft and supple. Figgie has always had very shiny and silky fur and I never thought it could get better looking but it has. Ozzy, well, after his DKA, his fur looked so awful. He just looked so unhealthy. My poor baby. But now his fur looks so soft. He reminds me of the snuggle bear on the snuggle fabric softner commercials. So soft and snuggly. So I have a snuggly bunny and a silky bunny. If their health is showing on the outside I can't imagine how much good it is doing on the inside. Just my two cents.. :cat::cat:

Hi, Jo. Rough day over here, too. I am pooped. So, I wouldn't say I am an exclusive raw feeder, but a "mainly raw" feeder would be more accurate. Civvie Baby Kitty is my dry kibble addict and eats some canned and will occasionally eat raw. Taffy gets raw mainly, but occasional offered a canned pate, especially if he seems bored of his food or appy is off. We fed Rad Cat for a very long time, but I was very disappointed when they started the High Pressure Processing and Taffy liked it less, as well. I still fed it for a while and was starting to make my own when he was FD Dx'd. I am comfortable with leaving some food out for several hours in the colder months, but now that the weather is warming, I won't do that. I'll probably leave some canned out for a snack if I am worried about his BGs dropping while I am out (due to a reading b4 leaving). Happy to answer any types of questions about raw feeding, just let me know.

It's great to see the daytime stretches of green again! Now if Ozzy could just teach Chino how to do that during the day instead of at night... Do you mix the SEB with their food or administer it another way?

Thanks Adrian. Yes, we are pleased to finally be seeing some greens and blues again. I just feel it is only a matter of time before he drops off again and we have to reduce. Always worry about this when we are at work.

Both kittes' GI systems have gotten better over last few weeks so we are not giving the SEB as much. When we do, I would mix it with water in a small container and mix to the consistency of apple sauce and then put a small dollop in their food and add a little water to mix in (always worry about ketones too). They tolerate it well.
