Were getting the hang of this sugar check thing! My strategy recently is to rub his ear or warm with rice sock, distract with a smear of pate on a plate, quick poke by hand with the lancet and a gentle squeeze and swipe of my thumb nail to pick up the blood drop, then test from the blood drop on my nail! Eliminates the frustration of him hiding his ear after poke, or losing the blood in his fur or to a head shake
**edited to add - make sure your hands are very clean before trying this method (maybe swipe fingernail with an alcohol swab before the test) because anything food, dirt, whatever, on your hands could mess up the glucose result**
