Oh please, please, please . . . .let us have some good numbers today. No more bouncing. He hasn't really been playful, but we have the other 4 P's. Also, I have 3 other questions:
1) Refrigerate Lantus pen once it's been opened or not? Which do you do -- and why?
2) MiraLax daily or just as needed -- directions say not more than 7 days -- could KiKi become laxative dependent? What do you do?
3) Is it feasible to care for KiKi if I were to take a job where I would be working 12hr rotating shifts (4 days on/4 days off/4 evenings on/4 evenings off/4 nites on/4 nites off)?

Re: 3/12 KiKi AMPS 311 QUESTIONS

To answer your questions:
Yes, you should refrigerate Lantus at all times opened or unopened. Not sure of the exact reason but it does say on the packaging.
I am sure somebody will have a more scientific reason....or it may say on the sticky at the top of the page.

You can give Miralax daily or as needed. I give 1/8 or a tsp to Putty every other day to prevent him from having litterbox issues.

Many people her work long hours and have crazy schedules and they do the best they can with the scheduling. It is a question you could ask here as well as in the Health forum where you may get more responses.

I refrigerate. I know you have to refrigerate vials. The pens may not be as dependent on refrigeration once opened. However, since most cats use far less insulin than a human, I think it's kept refrigerated so it will 'keep' better.

I think people here, like Miriam, do use Miralax on a regular basis. I've used it as needed for Gabby -- which isn't very often. I don't think Miralax is a laxative like ExLax or some of the other preparations. I believe it helps the gut retain water. I'd see how Kiki is doing with it and judge how it's going.

As far as work, there are definitely people here who have long days, are the only caregiver, and can't shoot on a 12/12 schedule.
