3/12/21 - Squeaky! AMPS = 306 PMPS = 256

I hope more fluids today makes him feel better and that he lets you give them easily. I would hold the needle the whole time. More than once it came out and got my cats wet, lol.

Sorry I missed your post yesterday. I hope the fluids help Squeaky feel better. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug:

Hi Carla, I think I didn't post until late. I had a busy day. Thanks for your good wishes and prayers. We need them!!!! I feel very sad that he was doing better, but now he is doing worse.

Hi Elise, upon closer inspection, he's a little more hydrated today than yesterday, but not as much as when normal. Is there a particular time when I should give him fluids? Not around shot time, right? @Wendy&Neko @THH & Snowcrash (GA) @tiffmaxee

He didn't play mouse today, he didn't budge and let me chase him when I said we were going to do medicine. Just like a limp rag. But he did run a little and let me chase him before the shot. He is still eating well.

So .... is there a file that describes how diabetic cats decline and die? So I will be ready for this? I would rather he die at home, a natural death, instead of having a vet involved. I take it the diabetes/pancreatitis will be the thing that does him in?

My mom is declining, too. I might be making a trip in a few weeks to see her, and need to bring Squeaky along again in the car. I can adjust the timing of the trip, however, that's why I need to understand about diabetic cat death, so I can manage both things well. Thank you so much.

Squeaky is in a really heavy sleep. Usually he sleeps lighter..... I hope he is okay.

Jan, big big hugs to you. I know you want to be prepared, but since Squeaky can’t tell you what’s going on with him, I think you need to take everything one day at a time. It’s different with humans. Whenever I seem to think Ruby is getting sicker, she bounces back or the vet tells me she is improving and we cruise for another while. You are doing the best you can. As long as you try to engage him in play and show him how much you love him with cuddles and scritches, that’s the best life any cat could ever have. Be as present as you can to what is happening now and enjoy the time you have together. :bighug::bighug:

Thank you that was a beautiful answer. :bighug::kiss::bighug:

There is no file on how diabetics decline. They are usually older cats, and go from other diseases associated with any older cat. Diabetes is a complication but as long as you are monitoring, it is a very treatable disease.

As for fluids, it is ECID. In some cats it can lower the BG. I gave Neko fluids a couple hours before preshot or when her numbers were already going up.

I hope for a better tomorrow for Squeaky.
