Trixie's showing a touch of Spring Fever today by going green! Unfortunately I have to scoot back to work, so we won't be able to test again till +10ish....

It was another interesting day for Trix:

This was the first time her PMPS was lower than her +10. She ate her dinner less than 2 hours before her PMPS...does the fact that her PMPS was lower than her +10 possibly, hopefully mean she's got a little pancreatic action going on?

You don't want to feed within 2 hours of shot time. Most of us test, feed, then shoot -- all within about 10 min. If you are feeding within that 2 hour window, you may be seeing a food spike at shot time. This means that once the effect of the food wears off, you've actually shot a lower number than your thought.
Given that there's meter variance of up to 20%, a 197 and a 212 are pretty much the same number.

Our feeding schedule is a little bit off today because of the time change. Usually, we can get her fed more than 2 hours before PMPS. With 5 other civies in the house, though, it is pretty much impossible to hold off feeding time for all (or any) of them until Trixie's 7:15 shot (which was at 6:45 tonight - again, upcoming time change). Once we walk in the door, the demands began - and they out number us. That's why we've been diligent about getting her +10; while it isn't the same as the actual PMPS, at least we know she's been quite a while without food at that time. The test, feed, shoot/10 minute time frame is much easier to pull off in the mornings.
I was wondering whether the difference was significant enough to be meter variance or not...just grasping at straws. I know...it's a marathon, not a sprint ;-).

Heya, Amy. Sounds like you've got quite the crew there!
Remember too that some cats will get a second dip at the end of the cycle... not necessarily pancreas action, but still a good thing! Just keep your eye on the prize. Trixie will continue to improve.

Yeah, they keep us incredibly busy, especially since none of them are "straight forward" kitties. Three (littermates) have digestive issues but refuse to eat the same food Trixie eats (Wellness Chicken), even though it would be best for them. Our oldest is in very early CRF and recently added HyperT to his list. Our youngest fortunately has "digestive strength", but also had a very serious herpes infection when she was 3 weeks old, and as a result her corneas are scarred and her sight is limited, her eye's water perpetually, and she has snuffly sinus damage. Amongst the crowd, I feel like I spent a solid 4-5 hours a day playing "food bowl referee"....but they're worth it.
