Re: 3/11 Tasha's OTJ Trial AMBG 121 :/

One way to know for sure - try to get a +3 or sooner if you can!

Any chance Tasha just had a BM or is a little backed up? That's the other thing that can cause a fluctuation that I've observed.

Re: 3/11 Tasha's OTJ Trial AMBG 121 :/

She was fast asleep. I woke her for her BG. I just gave her some food and will check her at the +3. She has never really had great AMBG. Never in the green but low 100s but then would drop low at the +3. I decided to put her on OTJ trial because she hit a 37 at +3 on a fat 0. She never had low AMBG.

Re: 3/11 Tasha's OTJ Trial AMBG 121 :/

I had the same nailbite_smile worry nailbite_smile about Basil during his OTJ trial. I think that's just the way Basil is. He was frequently blue PS before the OTJ trial, and all his dose reductions held. So I tried to make myself concentrate on that fact and on the fact this hs BG was in the NORMAL range.

Was he just blue in the AM, PM or both? 121 is above the normal range. Not by much...but it is above it.

(btw...my husband's name is Basil lol)

Re: 3/11 Tasha's OTJ Trial AMBG 121 :/

A little of each. You can see in his ss. But his numbers essentially looked just like they did on the last few Lantus doses.

Great name! My Basil is named for Basil Fawlty of Fawlty Towers.

Love that show!
I wondered if I feed her 3 hours before her AMBG if I would get a better number? I bet it would. I think she has Dawn Phenomenon. My daughter who is a type 1 has had (DP) it when she was younger. She went on an insulin pump and it stopped. More control hour by hour with the pump.

Actually I started the trial in the PM so this is still day 3. Day 4 starts at PMBG

Re: 3/11 Tasha's OTJ Trial day 3.5 AMBG 121 :/

Quincy is similar - rarely had/has a green AMPS/AMBG number yet dipped low in the evenings. All his dose reductions were earned by dips into the 40s or 30s. Even when he was on just 0.10, I caught him at 35! That's actually one reason why instead of going from a dose of 0.10 directly to an OTJ trial, I opted to do one more dose shave, to a drop of insulin. I was hoping it would give his pancreas just a little more support and ma, and that's what matters.

I should add too that Quincy gets a snack around 3-4 hours before the AM test, and this has still been the case. So I am starting to accept that that is who Quincy is!

Good luck getting to the bottom of things!

Tasha got a 37 on a fat 0 at +3 AMPS so I thought it was time to stop the insulin. Even though her AMPS were always in the blue.
Today, I checked Tasha at the +3 but she had eaten 45 mins before and was a 124 I waited until almost 2 hours later and she dropped to 93.
I think Tasha has dawn phenomenon. I think if I gave her a snack 3 hours before her AMBG she would do better. It would jump start her pancreas. I just leave food for her at night and I'm not sure when she eats it. She is a grazer and usually eats small amounts at a time. For all I know, she could have eaten an hour before her AMBG. I will try to give her a snack 3 hours before then take away her food and see what happens tomorrow.

Good luck! I am lucky with Quincy, at least I think I am, in that I can be confident that he eats his 1:30am snack pretty much as soon as the timer opens the compartment. If he doesn't do so, instead I worry that he's not feeling well. He could never free feed - would probably eat until he exploded. The one problem with his enthusiasm is I often am woken up around 12:30 or so because Quincy is trying to break into the timer. You'd think after many nights of unsuccessful attempts, he'd give up, but no..... And I don't want him to have 2 snacks while I'm asleep because then it starts verging on too much food for him.

Anyway... hopefully the 3-hours-pretest will be just what Tasha's pancreas needs!

Spot has been getting some higher blue numbers (124-134) also, but I've been reminded that these are good numbers, which they are. I also have him on a feeding schedule...breffis at 6 a.m. snacks at 9 am, 12 noon, 3 pm, dinner at 6 pm, snack at 9 pm, 12 am, and 3 am. It seems to work well for us.

Tasha looks really good for day 3.5!

PMBG 94
Will try to feed small amount 3 hours before AMBG to see if this takes care of the morning . I think her pancreas need a kick start then.
