Good Friday Morning, Everyone,

We have sunshine!!!!! But probably not for long. Flood advisories are up all over the place. The streets look like rivers because of the snow melt. Yup, we are heading into "Mud Season".
Rusty was eager to get us up this morning. I woke up to find him sitting--yes sitting--on my head!!! Then he purred, headbutted, and squirmed. I told him that tomorrow morning we'll be getting up 1/2 hour early to prepare for Daylight Savings Time. He had eaten all of his nighttime food. Test and shot went well. 2 sittings of breakfast have been eaten. We've played with Red Ears, Big Bug, and Octopus. Now it's radiator-sitting time. Nice AMPS again this morning. We had a really good day of numbers yesterday.
Hey kitties, let's go to the beach again today. I want to get away from the melting snow.
Rusty

Healing vines and snowflakes to Tori, Rocket & Comet, Butthead, Buddy, Willow, and all other kitties (and pups) not feeling well. Feel better!

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114

Good morning guys ... very nice start to the day for rusty .. hopefully the flooding doesn't affect you guys .. A few years back we had some major flooding in our town, it was unreal and caused a LOT of damage .. Hope you get to enjoy the sun for awhile .. have a great day guys!

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114

Rusty sitting on your head doesn't sound too comfortable for you

Hope the flooding doesn't effect your home at all, stay dry

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114

Good Morning Ella. Teehee, on Rusty sitting on your head. :-D Such a lovely morning number.

I don't look forward to this melting season. The town next to me, where I shop, gets flooded every year, in low spots.
I live at the top of a hill, but I worry about the people at the bottom, because they live next to a stream.

Hope your sun lasts longer than ours did, which was about five minutes. :-D

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114

Great start for Rusty we have flooding here in Ky too but its been raining and raining lots off and on for 2 weeks now.

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114

Morning guys! And Rusty - you continue to amaze us with your fantastic amps. Way to go! Keep up those bedtime wake-up calls. :-D One of my civvies does that: always on top of my head

I can only imagine the "sea of mud" and melting snow... then again - spring is coming! nice on your sunshine today. :-D I can see a little patch of blue outside my window - the rest is gray and ugly. I feel for those in your area that will be affected by flooding. It happens here alot too - always such a mess, so much loss.

Have a great day guys!

Rusty! Excellent idea! We need to pick up Spot too. he's been a bit under the weather. He misses his friends, and wants to hang out some. He says he is better. So.... maybe we should go an pick him up and then hit the beach or sumthin'... ~~ Mannie

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114

They do know how to get our attention don't they!  Great numbers as always.

Rusty, no beach here today, mom says the wave could be dangerous. Mannie says his deck is nice today! -- Tess

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114

Nice AMPS for Rusty boy! I hope you don't have any flooding. How cute on the head; were you laying down? I'm thinking he's a big boy. My Siamese used to suck on a piece of my clothing when I was sleeping and do this kneading. I think he had been weaned too early, lol!

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114, +5.5 90

Hi again, So far today's numbers are almost the same as yesterday's. We got back from our slog through the slushy rivers that pass for streets to find Rusty lying on the couch, in his testing spot!! So we tested, got the 90, and served lunch: today I gave him the FF Turkey & Giblets to see if indeed it would spike his numbers. I figured that it would be a good comparison with yesterday (when he got the usual Wellness Turkey with a little By Nature Turkey for "lunch"). Stay tuned!!

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114, +5.5 90, +9 127 (FF!)

Ha! Well, I guess we have the answer at +9: FF Turkey and Giblets, despite having only 3% carbs, spikes Rusty's bg!!

It's good to know a LC food I can use to raise numbers if I need to (and don't want to go to a MC).

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114, +5.5 90, +9 127 (FF!)

Hi Ella,
Maggie reacts the same way to the FF Turkey & Giblets, so I have it marked as MC for her. It seems to happen with some of the FF with the new label. When I leave sometimes and she's dropping a little, I'll leave a little of the FF Turkey & Giblets mixed in with her regular lc food. No, I'm not that close to the coastal waters here that it's a worry - re your question my condo. I would love to see the waves though.

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114, +5.5 90, +9 127 (FF!)

that's right.. now you know.. not that I like Baby surfin low #s by any means.. but I do like to see if what I consider to be MC/HC raise her when she is low. I find quite often the foods I have on the "no" list normally do not raise her BGs at all.. kinda crazy. For example Wellness Chicken & Liver in GRAVY don't raise her at all & she is carb sensitive.. food experimenting is fun ;-) Rusty is looking good!

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114, +5.5 90, +9 127 (FF!)

Ella, I suddenly got a hot flash, and my heart is racing. (yes, that's how I react to emotional stuff  )
I feed Checks, Turkey and Giblets all the time, and it never occurred to me that it could raise bg, when it's considered LC.
I need to experiment with it, next time he's low.
Is there a FF that you feel does not affect Rusty's bg? Of course, you don't feed FF all the time, like I do.

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114, +5.5 90, +9 127 (FF!), PMPS 128

Thanks Ann, Nicole, and Barb for your observations on FF Turkey & Giblets. As you can see, his number is still the same at PMPS. I am really glad I did this today. Of course, there may be other factors, but the FF did the same thing on March 8th (the last time I fed it). Occasionally I used to feed Stu FF Turkey & Giblets, but it was in the old-design cans and people here have remarked that the new-design cans contain a different formulation of food. Well, I'm going to mark my remaining 3 cans "MC" and put them in my emergency bin! Maybe to give as an occasional "treat", since Rusty loves it!!

All else is well here. The weather is awful, however! We had PMPS 1/2 hour early tonight and will do the other 1/2 hour tomorrow night at PMPS to be ready for DST on Sunday.

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114, +5.5 90, +9 127 (FF!), PMPS 128

wow on the FF - good to know. at least you have a LC backup when you need to bump him up a little. I too have heard that they have reformulated some of their classics, or the old labels - some with a higher carb content.

Sorry on the weather - we are a mix of wet and dry today - with another storm due to hit tomorrow. welcome to march in the pnw!

Have a great night guys!

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114, +5.5 90, +9 127 (FF!), PMPS 128

  I have never thought about how FF can raise our numbers with LC I also use the turkey an giblets a lot today DL had beef and chicken for dinner and he had surfed low blues all day and then he went to 185 so you are really making me rethink some of my FF flavors I use I will have to pay close attention to what LC can raise my boys numbers glad you brought this up in your condo Ella

Re: 3/11 Rusty AMPS 114, +5.5 90, +9 127 (FF!), PMPS 128

Hi Ella! Nice to see that Rusy didn't zoom up after the +9! I found that all of the LC FF varieties raise Tinkles' numbers....long before the reformulation. Since he's been surfing lower numbers lately and I have had to use a lot of gravy, I started using FF to help keep him from diving early in the cycle..I mix it with his regular LC food 50/50 for his mms when he's having an active cycle, and/or feed an extra tsp here or there to boost him a bit. Wellness has the same effect, but with higher spikes that last much longer, so I can't use it the same way.

We still have snow here too, and flooding issues......mud season is underway...yuck! I'll take it over the ice storms though....I think the last few people who have been without power since Sunday were supposed to get power back today. Have a good night and stay dry!
