So glad to see that Jude's numbers have come down, Mary. I saw your note about the big STINKY poop. Do you think he was constipated? I know that can cause numbers to rise.
I don't think he's been constipated--he's been pooping, but in the last few days, he's having big, stinky diarrheas. He had diarrhea a couple of weeks ago when he had the UTI. And, throughout the UTI and antibiotic shots, I gave him a probiotic, and the diarrhea finally seemed to have cleared up, but now it has returned. I will note, though, that I changed his probiotic because I noticed that the Nexabiotics I was giving him contains rice dextrin, which is a carbohydrate. I can't imagine there being enough carbs in it to boost his bg, but since I stopped giving it to him, his numbers have decreased. Could be completely coincidental
Incredible SS note, Mary 😂 I fear every one is like this for Binx.

Glad to see Jude’s numbers coming down!! Hold on, buddy 🤗

Haha! Well, it is what it is :p I'm sorry Binx is having them too. Jude's are so stinky, that I can smell them all the way from the kitchen litter box, down the hall, in my bedroom at night with the door closed! PU!!!

@Allie & Gen and @MinnerPip, I wanted to tag you two because I think you two might be using Nexabiotics. See my note above about the rice dextrin. As I said earlier, I can't imagine that the amount of rice dextrin could drive up bg, but it's kind of odd that Jude's bg has dropped since I took him off of it.

You’re so good at sleuthing, Mary!! I have use Nexabiotics as well and wondered if it increased Trixie’s BG. She had some nasty diarrhea in January and I used it for a couple weeks. When she had that spike in her BG in mid February, I stopped giving it to her just in case. As you said, could be coincidence but better to be safe.

Are you giving him something else now? Hope it resolves soon. It’s no fun for them or us.

Huh. Yes, I still give Gen Nexabiotic, but I haven't noticed any problems with it. I mean, also, right now I'm not exactly struggling with high BG ... something to have an eye out for if I can get his appetite back to normal, I guess. Thanks for the heads' up!

I'm giving him s.boulardii, but I'd like to find something that replaces the bacteria stripped away by antibiotics since he is on them so frequently. That's what I was hoping Nexabiotics would do, but I don't want to take the risk that it's boosting his bg. Interesting to hear you had a similar experience. I'd love to give all of them Visbiome, but it's so expensive for five cats. Prohibitive, really.

Agreed, it would be expensive for all 5 of your babies. I’ve looked into it as well but it’s super expensive in Canada as well. 😖
