Re: 3/7 Mike's Buddy AMPS#342 +1 301 +11 271

Yay! I come home and its under 300 for change. Shhhhhh, not to loud his liver might hear us.

Re: 3/8 Mike's Buddy PMPS#282 +11 110

I got up this morning for a +4, and went back to bed! @-) I do not know what happened but I somehow was so tired I must have forgot the whole reason this time. I'm rather mad at myself that I did this. cat(2)_steam I am wondering what his readings where then if its 110 now.

Re: 3/8 Mike's Buddy PMPS#282 +11 110 ~a sudden change

So, here we are suddenly in the blues like that. So this is where I truly wonder about doses so close to the lows and it coming on like this. Not that I am not pleased, just cautious.

Having said this when we shoot so close to a good number its when we have to go to work. I can't afford to take a day off again for while like I did the last time he started to drop with low numbers. Work is trying to find reason to cut back I don't want to give them any.

Re: 3/8 Mike's Buddy AMPS#106

I taking the side of caution here, though his dose might be shedding now I can't take a chance on him diving on me. I need to leave for work soon and another call in will not work.

I am not shooting per: Q4.4. My cat's pre-shot level was way below the usual value. Should I give the injection? A4.4. There's no hard and fast rule, but if you don't have data on how your cat responds to insulin, here are some general guidelines. Below 150 mg/dl (8.3 mmol/L), don't give insulin.

I have data, but all indications (to me) state he will dive again being this is such a sudden low number in the last 12 hours.

Re: 3/9 Mike's Buddy AMPS#294

Well fudge cookies. But it could not be helped, better to start over again than to start from disaster.

BG 294 after 12 hours, not surprised but I was hopeful for lower.

Return to 1.50u shot this session.

That is a jump from this morning! What you do Bud got a stash of sanwizhez's somewhere!?

His sores are coming back again...

I have posted photos of Buddy's sore problems in the new photo gallery. If anyone feels that its not the right place let me know including the webmaster, etc. I just wanted all to see that this problem is real and that he needs help. Thanks!

Re: 3/9 Mike's Buddy PMPS#358

Another high note: Arg, one step forward and roll down the hill backwards.

Re: 3/9 Mike's Buddy PMPS#358

You are doing a great job MIke. I think Buddy is just playing games with you. Choco likes to do that from time to time. ;-) Buddy sure is a handsome fella.

Re: 3/9 Mike's Buddy PMPS#358

A late check, but its 181 at the +10.5.

I dropped the meter but it was only about a foot off the floor, gesh I hope it works OK.

Tested it several times on myself, seems consistent and no random readings.

Re: 3/10 Mike's Buddy PMPS#210

So we are sneaking about the 200's I can handle that! ;-)

1.50u shoot, will make a +4 or +5 check, glucose was checked before leaving for work; negative.

Those darn sores have flared up again, crap! :-x

Re: 3/10 Mike's Buddy PMPS#210

Oh owwies. Those sores look painful. I hope you can get those figured out somehow. I've never seen anything like that on a cat (perhaps after a fight with another animal, but that's not the case here) but I personally have sores that'll flare up randomly for no apparent reason. I hope they get better soon, and wish I could give advice. Do the flares seem to happen at the same time as something else has changed in the enviroment? Could be an allergy or something. I'm sorry you and Buddy have to deal with em though!

Aside from me ramblin on about sores without being able to give helpful advice, I wanted to tell you that your spreadsheet link isn't working :3 I think it got cut off in the middle.

Re: 3/10 Mike's Buddy PMPS#210

Hi, just got out of the shower. OK, we got it down to a tiny link. I hope its working now. Thank you!

We are in hopes of starting Buddy with a vet and specialist to see what is up with these sores, we hope to get this started very soon. The poor boy really does gets miserable when these things start up.

BTW: thanks for stopping by!

You're welcome!

Link is working just fine now :-D Good luck with the specialist. I hope it doesn't turn out too complicated.

Also, hello fellow Floridian late shifter! :3 Though technically I'm a midnighter XP

Hi, Mike... wow.. just saw the sores & I really hope you can get him to the vet.. those need to be looked at.. I would be very nervous about letting them go nailbite_smile please update if you do take him in & have a great day!

I agree -- those sores need to be looked at and potentially a skin biopsy taken if the vet isn't clear what they are. I'm not sure where you're located but if there's a vet school around, there are veterinary dermatologists who you could take Mike to or your vet could consult with. Given your photos, they would be very helpful if you need a consult.

Also -- can you open a new condo on a daily basis? It's much easier to know where info is with a new daily condo.

Hi Mike, I hope that you can get Buddy to a vet dermatologist or other specialist soon. In the meantime, can you do something to keep him from scratching them and re-infecting them? (like, maybe, one of those dreaded cone things--just as a temporary measure). Hang in there!

mike...did you get input on your daylight savings time question?

I was looking back to see if Mike got an answer...I didn't see one so....

About this time change: Pushing it back 15 minutes to coordinate with the time change, right? I don't see how I can do this. I work in the afternoons into evenings 4p to 12a m-f

Is this right?

Example: regular time is 1:30
Thursday AMPS at 1:30
Thursday PMPS at 12:45
Friday AMPS at 12:45
Friday PMPS at 11:45
Saturday AMPS at 11:45
Saturday PMPS at 10:15 (you will set your clock ahead overnight)
Sunday AMPS at 10:15, which would be the “old” 10:15
Sunday PMPS at 1:30am/pm, which has you on schedule for Monday morning
This looks like you are pushing back by 3 hours...you only need to go back a total of 1 hour. One way to do it would be:

Thursday AMPS at 1:30
Thursday PMPS at 1:15
Friday AMPS at 1:15
Friday PMPS at 1:00
Saturday AMPS at 1:00
Saturday PMPS at 12:45
Sunday AMPS at 1:45 (which is the "old" 12:45)
Sunday PMPS at 1:30...back to regular time.

Please ask questions if this doesn't make sense!

I hope you can get Buddy in for his skin problem to be looked at soon. Ouch!

This looks feasible, may have to take Saturday off (over lap work hours) to do it. But my AMS are kind of like my PMS. @-) Thanks.

Thursday AMPS at 1:30 pm
Thursday PMPS at 1:15 am
Friday AMPS at 1:15 pm
Friday PMPS at 1:00 am
Saturday AMPS at 1:00 pm
Saturday PMPS at 12:45 am

poor kitter - his face looks painful and like too much potential for an infection! Are feline diabetic cats like human diabetics in that they can have trouble healing?

When do you work on Saturday? This is just a suggestion, there are other options.

Hi, I work 8am to 12:30pm (unless something comes up - and the boss is notorious for pushing the envelope). But I think I can switch sat for sun... In case I can't what is the option?

Ok, then how about this...

Friday AMPS @1:30
Friday PMPS@ 1:15
Saturday AMPS @1:15
Saturday PMPS @1:00
Sunday AMPS @2:00 (the old 1:00)
Sunday PMPS @1:45
Monday AMPS @1:45 (or you could shoot at 1:30 if you need to)
Monday PMPS @1:30

You can move the shot times by 15 minutes on each shot if you need to, it's just less impact on the shed if you can spread it out. If this won't work, we can try another option...you don't need to skip work, we can work around it.

The Saturday is still kind of close. It takes about 40 minutes to get home sometimes after getting of at around 12pm or so. I called and he would let me know if I can switch Sat for Sun. He may not get back with me till I am gone and at work. I wish I could afford a phone with internet! Ack!

Ouch on the sores!!! They look kind of like an allergic rxn but I definitely think he needs to see a dermatologist, if possible.

Yes, Mike...it would be really helpful if you did a condo each day.....it takes a long time to get through all week in one condo :-D Thanks!!!
