Good morning! KiKi seems to be in good spirits today -- been pacing the floor and begging for food for the last hour. Gave him his MiraLax mixed with food & water FIRST; and then the balance of the can. He ate almost all 3 oz --good boy!! cat_pet_icon

Now he is back to nappin again. Now if he would just leave a nice prezzie :sad: How long do you think it should normally take?

UNBELIEVABLE! Who forgets to give their diabetic cat his shot!?!
I was so worried about him getting his MiraLax and going poo -- then as I'm driving out of town I realize I didn't even give him his shot!
DAMMIT! Now we're even MORE off schedule. I just feel sick . . . can anything ELSE go wrong? :shock: Can I screw anything ELSE up?
I couldn't turn back to give the shot either-- I barely made it to my doctor appt on time the way it was. CRAP CRAP CRAP

I can TOTALLY relate to forgetting! Lots of us can! Please don't worry.

I have one civvie who will eat only dry food, so I have to cover it before I go out.
I used to forget all the time and Shadoe would hop on up and help herself!
I used to get sooo pissed off at myself!
I made a sign and taped it onto the inside of my front door which says:

COVER DRY FOODS!!!!

And it works! I was rushing late this morn and when I reached for the door, I saw my sign.
When I checked, guess what I found?? Yup, the bowl was uncovered!

Just make yourself some sort of reminder. Think of what you can do to make sure you don't forget.

For me, I make a pot of coffee when I get up and when I get home. What I do is to put the 2 fresh syringes right on the counter by the coffee maker. It's right by the frig and the spot where I put together Shadoe's food. There is no way I can pour coffee or do anything in the kitchen without seeing those syringes.

Think of something that will work for you. Something fool proof that fits your habits.

Anyways, what's done is done and remember how is Kiki? Happy with a full belly? You have a problem with that? :lol: So the number is a bit up and you need to slowly work back to a better time, the most important thing is how Kiki is feeling and acting. He's a good boy and a happy boy; those numbers mean squat to him. Just keep the food coming and the magical poo will follow.

Thank you so much for your encouragement. I labeled 7 Ziploc snack bags (Mon, Tues, Wed......) and I have put 2 syringes in each one. Every day I will put that day's baggie with the glucose meter. What a clever idea. Now if only I could put a sticky note on my brain.... :oops:
The good news is that I even had to open another can of cat food for KiKi -- he polished off the whole 3 oz can!

You wouldn't believe all the stupid things I do. I mean really, really stupid things.

Forgetting a shot is ok, you're only human. Call it a fur shot and go from there. KiKi forgives you already.

Will you be home before +11? If so, if Kiki's numbers are still high, you could potentially shoot an hour early (i.e., at +11 from when you shot this morning). Post before your +11 if you want eyes on your condo to lend a hand with the time. Also, remember you will have daylight savings to take into account, as well, beginning tomorrow.

Um.. I do.. Just earlier this week I got her insulin ready, got her testing kit, tested her BGs, even put new strips in the kit and a new chip in the meter and tested the new strips on myself.. and forgot all about the needle.. not exactly sure how my brain figured all of these steps were important, and forgot the actual reason for all the steps.

Nova's actually the one that reminded me (she wanted the second round of cookies for a shot after a test)..

Don't be so hard on yourself.. REALLY!

I'm so happy. Now if only those numbers tonite will cooperate -- it will have turned out to be a *not-so-bad-day* after all. I just worry with all the set backs (caused by me or just KiKi's health in general) that we are wasting valuable time -- way too much time surfing on those ugly colors . . . I called everyone to tell them about the poo too!! :mrgreen:

Had to drop by and congratulate you on your subject heading! and then I saw you beating yourself up for being human. Natural, but I think it's a pretty common condition. :-D And do we see our furbabies beating themselves up for being cats??? :lol:

I have to ask -- when you leave the syringes in the baggie, they are not pre-filled, right? My understanding is that pre-filling isn't recommended, so I was curious.

Just in case, do you have strips and HC? You probably won't need it but it's a safety precaution question.

sure, this should be high enough to shoot early. Get a test at +2 just in case KiKi plans to surprise us.

I've forgotten to shoot. Even worse, I've been putzing around on a weekend morning and then suddenly couldn't remember if I shot or not, when I was still home and could have fixed it if I had known for sure.
