Well I gave Jake some Innova EVO no grain wet kitty food last night because all day yesterday he was turning his nose up at his raw food. So I did a half and half mixture of raw and canned. He gobbled it up! Anways, checked his BG this morning and it was a 402, he's been under 400 for about a week now so I'm wondering if I caused this spike by giving him canned. Thoughts?

I doubt the spike was because of canned food. Most likely he is just bouncing off of the blue numbers he had yesterday. It will be interesting to see what his PMPS is to see if the bounce is clearing already.

Which of the EVO canned foods did you give Jake? There are some that are low carb and some that are in the 11 - 15% range. If it was one of the varieties in the latter group, it may be why Jake had a spike. Also, which variety of raw are you feeding. There's a recall on Nature's Variety.

OK here's an updated Jake Spreadsheet.

He's not eating his raw food anymore, in fact he down right refuses it. He'll eat the Innova though, so I just fed him that so I could give him his shot. If he wants to eat this food that's fine, I'll give him what he likes. He's been a little odd today because he just hasn't been ravenous for food so maybe he never liked the raw to begin with, he just ate it 'cos he was starving. I keep checking on him making sure he's awake LOL i'm so worried about him.

yup good idea to give him what he will eat.

good job on the spotchecks today.

if ur up for +3 tonight, and/or a before bedtime check, that would be good to see.

Feel free to ask any questions and concerns. Hope u have a good nite. :-D

I'll try to get in two more today, he seems sleepy today so I'm worried. Then again he could just be going back to normal he's kind of a lazy kitty! As a matter of fact, when he was diagnosed I didn't even notice he was lethargic because he's always been slow and goofy! So maybe he's goin back to normal and not trying to eat anything that comes his way!

PS - Does anyone think I should up his insulin dosage?
