Tux

Lots been going on. Ollie is back up to 5.5 units. She is suppose to have kidney ultrasound but now will need to hold off because of Tux. She is so super hungry now.

Tux is coming home. I pick him up @ +5. Setting up playpen this morning.

Thank you Lyane (@Ti-Mousse ) for posting about Tux. And thank you all for the kind words, prayers, hugs, wishes. They worked. I knew they would FDMB has the magic.

If I learned anything. Do not take a wait and see attitude if projectile vomiting is involved. Seek help immediately. Tux was acting fine except for that and not eating. But he was alert, playing, purring even wrestling with PJ.

Now I need to get in shower and go get my baby.

Really happy to hear that Tux is coming home today!
I missed something...why is Ollie having a kidney ultrasound?
I wonder how Ollie will react when Tux is in her playpen......

@Ti-Mousse. Lyane this is for you. I was warned not to open bag because it really stinks. I will listen to them on this one.

Not as bad as I thought it would be. But they said they dissected to make sure nothing was in it and they washed it out.

His whole abdomen is shaved and has incision down the whole length. When he settles down I will try to get pic of it..

:woot::woot: Good thing they checked! Can you imagine when this was in a stiff compact lump !! He must feel so good now! Life is beautifiul for little Tux.. Enjoy your day with him, Paula!

@Lisa and Witn (GA) Thanks, I will get that slicker brush for Peanut! I might try the vacuum also, but he might be offended that I see him as a dusty carpet!:p Will try both anyway!:)

Ollie always has trace to +1 blood in her urine. It thought to be because it was always obtained by cysto. She had UTI on AB last month. The recheck urine a week later was by clean catch and +3 blood. So not her Dr ( hers left practice) suggested a kidney ultrasound to make sure there are no stones or cystitis. Ollie's vet opened her own practice and wasn't ready to do US until this month so I was waiting.

I was told to put collar on Tux if we are not home or he is licking incision. No jumping or rough housing. Right !!!! So first thing out of carrier he went right to his window shelf and climbed up. He has been walking around. Playing with toys, on and off shelf. Eating.

Started egg yolk on all of them today. Someone did spit up a hairball little while ago. Next day or two I will look for the hairball remedy you put on the foot and they lick off.

So is Tux wearing a "onesie" to protect the incision site?

Nope. At least not yet. It's open to the air. When I'm out I will look for something . There are no stores between ER and me where I could maybe find something. I'm thinking I have a few days before it starts to dry and tighten to find something.

thought to be because it was always obtained by cysto.

When Ravan was diagnosed 2 yrs ago the Vet ( my regular vet was away) insisted he do a Cysto to confirm the diabetes. He used an Ultra sound but still needed to poke Ravan 3 times to get the urine! Ravan was crying the entire time. When we got home he went to the litter box & took a long time to pee.
He appeared to be in pain. This went on for 2 months. He started constantly leaking urine everywhere. When I told the vet that did the Cysto he insisted it was due to his age & diabetes Not from the Cysto. I decided to ask for antibiotic because it was getting worse. A week later the leaking was gone & has not come back. He also stopped having pain & trouble peeing. I was so angry. Ravan did not need the Cysto to confirm diabetes.I didn't know that at the time.

When I talked to my regular vet he agreed with me. I've learned over the years to do research & speak up "before" they do anything to my animals. Poor Ravan was injured from the Cysto & in unnecessary pain ! Apparently that vet didn't know what he was doing! I've read of other kitties having UTI's weeks after a Cysto & the people never connect it with having the Cysto. I won't ever let them do one on any of my cats.

I'm glad Tux is better & hope Ollie is OK.

Olives urine is done when we do kidney blood work. I have a hard time collecting a sample from her so cystos were done. The vet uses ultrasound to do the cystos. The last cysto picked up a UTI, not cause it. The recheck was a clean catch (I got it by putting a measuring cup under her).

Good to know about this, thank you Joy.

Ollie has been growling at Tux anytime he walks by her. PJ isn't to sure about Tux yet. Must say, he does stink. This morning they said he has been laying in litter box (he does that if in strange place, his box seems to be his safe zone). So they butt bathed him. But he smells like antiseptic cleanser to me. I have been wiping him with wet washcloth as much as I can.
