Good Morning, Everyone,

We are home and Rusty is continuing his bounce (and we may have had a partial fur shot last night). Hopefully he will get back to his normal numbers before too long. We all had a good night. This morning we had a good test, good shot, good breakfast, good combing, and a good schmooze. He's chillaxin' in his little bed by the radiator. I'm going to do some research on Children's liquid Benadryl, but I don't want to start him on an antihistamine (which may cause him to be drowsy and uncoordinated) until he comes down from his bounce. The vet seemed reluctant to diagnose asthma, so I am not going to look into that route until we see whether an antihistamine will work for his congestion. He sounds good today!

Thank you all for your suggestions and comments. I've written down the names of the various meds and will check them out.

OT: "Parsifal" was an excellent performance, but the production was not exactly to my taste. It did have some interesting insights, however. Tomorrow we are going to see it again at the Met Live in HD movie theater in Lake Placid.

Today is a day of catch-up. I'll get to some condos in a bit!

Hope all is well in LL and that all kitties and beans who are under the weather will be feeling better soon,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 3/1 Rusty AMPS 323

Hi Ella. I.m sure Rusty will clear his bounce now that he's back home and resting in his bed by the radiator. I hope an antihistamine will help his breathing.

Glad you enjoyed the performance of Parsifal. Isn't that the one that took Wagner about 25 years to complete?

Have a great day Ella.

Hi guys .. Glad to hear you are home safe and sound .. and fingers crossed rusty comes down for you, and that the antihistamines work for him and that he really doesn't have asthma .. have a great weekend guys!

Re: 3/1 Rusty AMPS 323, +5.5 205

Hi again,
This afternoon I'm going to Rusty's vet to get the test results and talk with her about the Benadryl, etc. Marje's suggestion of Allerplex is intriguing and I am going to ask the vet if she knows about this supplement-type, holistic product. I am a little leery because it contains some Bovine ingredients, and Rusty always vomits up beef.

bbl,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 3/1 Rusty AMPS 323, +5.5 205

Hmmmm...I suppose that could be a possible issue but maybe not. It depends on the source, I would think, and possibly the purity. SP supplements are pretty pure. Paws crossed you all will find an excellent solution.

Re: 3/1 Rusty AMPS 323, +5.5 205

I hope Rusty clears his bounce soon. I hope you can work out a good plan with the vet on what to give Rusty to help with his congestion.

Re: 3/1 Rusty +9 273, PMPS 345, Labs and vet

Higher and higher for Rusty. He surely isn't anywhere near the lagoon! I wonder how long I should wait for this "bounce" (or double, or triple bounce) to clear before upping his dose. I don't want him to become insulin resistant.

I visited the vet this afternoon. We agreed that Benadryl Children's liquid would not be good for Rusty. And in addition agreed that I should not start anything until his blood glucose numbers get back to normal. I showed her the web page for Standard Process Allerplex (recommended by Marje) and told her Marje's story of her cat who benefitted from it:

https://www.standardprocess.com/Products/Standard-Process/Allerplex

The vet knows Standard Process and has a practitoners' account with them. Apparently they have a veterinary division. She thought Allerplex might be just the thing to try. And she is going to find out if there is a version of it specifically for cats. So that's where we are. If there is not a cat-specific formula, we will try the regular, human Allerplex. (She didn't think that bovine extracts would exacerbate a beef allergy.)

The vet gave me copies of Rusty's test reports, but aside from the precis that the vet gave me (in laymen's terms), I don't know what the details mean. I am uploading the file (3 pages) as an attachment, for anyone who might be curious or who might want to help me out.
(edited to say that I deleted the attachment: it was just too difficult to read!).

I don't know where today went, but it did. Hope all is well in LL. My heart goes out to Angela on the passing of Jr. Mint, Blackie's son.

Re: 3/1 Rusty +9 273, PMPS 345, Labs and vet

Hi Ella, just catching up on Rusty and sending healing vines. Sorry about his high number there, but Rusty always gets back on track. Rusty, you're needed in the Green Lagoon. Good luck on what you decide with his med. Glad you had an enjoyable time today. Hugs from us.

Sienne, I took them off because they were just impossible to look at in that .txt format and I was unable to post them as a PDF because of space restrictions.

Here they are again, if you really want to plow through them!

Re: 3/1 Rusty +9 273, PMPS 345; labs reposted

Hi Ella
Long time I have not been here but I saw the note about labs so I had to check if Rusty was okay.
I see you mention antihistamine.
In case you need to go that route for what is going on with Rusty I could suggest looking into zyrtec. We call it
reactine across the border but it is the same.
5mg once a day. I had to bring my Chloe to the vet as she had large scabs on her head and no way was I giving her
any steroids. She is not diabetic but has Max's genes so I never take a chance. This is what the vet recommended for suspected allergies. She did nt have any reactions to it and was not any more sleepy than usual
Anyways you would not have to worry about sugar in any liquids. Pills are very small but i cut them in had anyways and put
them in the duck flavoured greenies which should be okay for FD.
Hope I didn't stick my nose in. Just wish you well.

Hi Randi, thanks for your input.

Sienne's vet prefers Zyrtec also. If the Allerplex turns out not to work and the vet wants to do an antihistamine, I'll ask her about it.

When are we going to meet in Plattsburgh?????

Have a great weekend,

Ella & Rusty

You're in good hands :-D

I am due for a trip when the weather clears. We have to make it happen!!!
Miss you all.

Re: 3/1 Rusty +9 273, PMPS 345; labs reposted

UGH on those numbers, paws crossed it's just the after effects of travel and a partial fur shot. We're not using the ropes for Zener at the moment, we'll send them to Rusty.

The Allerplex does not have a veterinary formula. It's just for humans but it shouldn't matter...that's what I gave my kitty.

I'm going to look at the labs :-D
