3/09 Morris +7 337; PMPS 364; +1 380 - another dosecrease?

Last night, Morris ate all of his dinner & his +5 snack - but he only ate about 1/2 of his +2 snack and only 1 or 2 bites of his +8 snack. I am hoping that is what is causing this ugly red this morning!

I finally found a store in town that had 1 can of Merrick Cowboy Cookout - they normally carry it, but are out of it right now. When I came home from my 1st round of errands today, I discovered that Morris had eaten all of his breakfast, but hadn't touched his +2 snack. When I called him over to his feeder, he sniffed at the food but did not seem very interested. I then opened up the can of Cowboy Cookout & dished up some of it for him - he ate it all up & even licked the sides of the dish clean! Maybe he is just tired of having the same old food day after day & that is why he hasn't been eating! I have re-adjusted his timed feeder so that the snack he didn't eat this morning will now be his +5 snack, then he will have more Cowboy Cookout for his +8 snack today.

Since he just ate, I figure there is not much point doing a spot check right now. I will do a spot check later this afternoon.

You never can tell when they are going to turn on you and 'decide' that they don't want this flavor or that. I have pathetically opened more than one brand and flavor on several occasions for MZ Shadoe to pick something she deemed worthy of eating.

If there is a flavor that Morris 100% all the time likes, you can save a few cans of that one, just in case you want to test if he's not eating or just doesn't like what you selected.

If only they could read labels, sniff through cans and could operate a can opener; we would be home free!

Finicky Kitties... :roll: My two will sometimes put their nose in the dish and then step aside....look up at me as if to say "Have we forgotten something in this dish Missy?" I then sigh and run to get the freeze-dried chcien that they like shaved over the top, like a sprinkle of parm cheese or something....I mean, what is a plain dish of Ff without the sprinkles, huh?
Well, we aim to please, right?
We have to remind ourselves that they will not really starve themselves....they are just not in the mood for what was laid before them....royalty....they should get excellent service always. :roll:

YAY! He ate about80-90% of his Friskies snack at +5 (the same snack he would not eat at +2!!). His +8 snack will open soon & he will have another chance to eat more Cowboy Cookout. I found 2 more stores in town that stock Cowboy Cookout & they charge less per can than the 1st store I found today which is WAY accross town & WAY out of my way! The other 2 stores.....1 is near my work & the other is near my parents house.....so I am a very happy camper now! I had a lovely chat with the lady who seems to own/run the store close to my work.....I explained how difficult it has been to find this particular variety of cat food in this town! She then said "So, I should keep stocking it?" and I replied "Absolutely!"

I am definately hoping that this is the situation Morris is in right now! That is an easier fix than if he is not eating because of his p~itis!!!

Me too! And I am even happier that he actually likes a food which is GOOD for him! I have heard that several kitties around FDMB land aren't too fond of the Merrick foods. I was hoping that he would like this flavor in particular since it is 5% carbs & lower in fat than a lot of other brands around.

I am thinking that I haven't seen many nice colors on Morris' ss since the dosecrease on Fri evening. He has now had 9 shots of 1.50u.....how long do I wait until the next dosecrease? I am also thinking he may need a dosecrease now that I am including Merrick as part of his feeding routine.....it has more carbs in it than what I used to feed (I was feeding him 3% & lower, now I am feeding 5% & lower).

YAY! He ate up all his dinner & cleaned the sides of the dish! I think he likes this new food!

i agree with you about taking the dose up. i'd probably increase to 1.75u. is that what you were thinking?
