I gave him 0.5u last night and he is 588 this morning. I think I will continue to give him 0.75u during the day and change his pm dose from 0.9 to 0.75. Any suggestions?

Let's see how the numbers look. Hope Robin can fix you up with a sliding scale that will help guide you. I am reluctant about the higher dose at night because we have no nighttime numbers. It may be what he needs. It may be that he drops low at night. Look what we found yesterday when you got a few extra numbers.

Any night you can afford to sleep badly, set the alarm and get some night numbers?

I will test him a little bit today. I have to think about a night I will be able to do that!I'm thinking Friday night because I will be able to sleep in on Saturday since I work in the afternoon..! :-|

Hi Nadja,

After looking at your ss I think that you should stick with the .75u for a while.

I was trying to put together a sliding scale for you but he has been bouncing around so much I can't find a starting point so if you stick with a dose for a while (except if he has low numbers of course) and let the bouncing stop we can set up a scale for you to follow.

Another thing that came to my mind as I was giving him his 0.75u this morning is that I wonder if I really gave him 0.75u or 1u yesterday morning.
I was looking at a syringe picture I have showing the markings after converting the units to 100u syringe and yesterday I didn't look at that picture, I thought I had memorized it so now I'm really wondering what dose I gave him.
I will stick to 0.75u for few more days and if his numbers are still on pink I will assume I gave him more than 0.75u yesterday since some of his numbers were in blue.
man....! :-|

No chance of a fur shot? It could also be a bounce if he went low last night. So hard to know without the data, Nadja.

Most people post the conversion chart on their refrigerator and refer to it before every shot, even if they have been doing it a long time.

this time I'm sure it's not a fur shot, I made sure the needle went it :/
I'm thinking it's because of last nigh. I was giving him .9u at night and 0.75u during the day since the 2nd of March. Melanie had suggested me to to different doses because his numbers would be higher at night even after receiving his pm shot. She also suggested me to increase the dose little by little, 0.8u both am and pm for 3 days, than go up a little bit from there.
As I mentioned before I'm thinking I gave him 1u yesterday not 0.75, I thought I had memorized what 0.75u was on the u100 syringe after the conversion and today I thought I would look at the picture just in case, and indeed I was going to give him 1u if I haven't looked it up :/
I will test him again in a couple of hrs and see what his numbers are. His shot will be due in 4 hrs, I wonder if I should give his shot 1 hr early depending on his numbers, and then as always what dose to give him confused_cat if I should start on 0.8u both pm and am, or if I should give him 0.9u like I was doing before, or 0.75u confused_cat

I just tested Sam and he is 397. His shot will be due in 1 hr and 45 min.
I wonder if I should give his shot a little earlier? Not necessarily now, so to get things straight I will be giving him 0.75u tonight as well is this right?

I think I would wait. He has come down in the past couple hours. It can be within the 20% variance. But I don't like shooting a number that is down, not up. Just in case he throws us a curve.

Ok, I will test him again before his shot and come back here because I need some enlightening regarding his dose confused_cat

Interesting that he stayed basically flat for 4 hours.

Robin advised staying at .75 for a few cycles so she could get some data for a sliding scale. You are really bouncing around a lot. I'd try .75 another cycle. Your decision.

ok, will do that. For how long should I give 0.75u am and pm? for the rest of the week or until we see the need to change dose?

I know you know we need to have more numbers. Any you can get us would help. As we talked about, we are guessing whether he stays high or whether he goes low. One would mean a higher dose, one a lower one. Some more numbers mean Robin can set you up with a scale.

I know we have talked about testing for ketones. Are you sure testing?

I tested for ketones 4 days ago, and it was negative.
I will get some numbers and let you know. Another reason why the doses are changing is because of how he reacts, like you said "One would mean a higher dose, one a lower one".
So instead of reacting to his numbers and changing doses all the time, should I just give him 0.75u for the next 3 days regardless of what his numbers are? (with exception he goes super low of course). This way his body will get a chance to get used to the dose. I think this has been my issue, I see a number and want to fight against it, and changed dose according to his numbers.
I will get some numbers tomorrow about 4 hrs before his am shot. Especially since apparently he goes low towards the end of the cycle...
