Maybe rebound will clear sooner ... just maybe.

How's Kiki? Happy? Furry? Following you everywhere you go? A WCR is a good thing to get in a habbit of adding to your post. It helps others read the cat (well.... at least we try) and it helps you see beyond the number.

KiKi having a down day today. He's been asleep for most of it, but even when he does get up to get a drink of water . . . . there isn't a whole lot of ambition. Might walk into the other room to look around, but then come back and lie down again. He's not groggy or anything -- more like he's really depressed or something.
I gave him some snacks at +8 -- just becuz he had already dropped 330 already. Is it possible to cushion a rebound? Would it possibly lessen how high the spike would be?

355 thats not so bad. He's been sleeping allllll day long -- he'll get up for food tho :mrgreen:

Probably the big bounces are taking a bit of a toll on Kiki's energy level. Kiki is having bounces off of even blue numbers but the good news is that you are seeing blues and greens. It will take a little time for her liver to figure out that these lower numbers are a good thing!

You think I should just stick with the full unit?
Is it too much? I mean all the dipping up and down 300-400 points after every shot?
Even his meow is just kinda ...well, not a lot of effort put into it. I don't like it when he sleeps all day and isn't interested in much of anything -- it worries me.

+3 He was acting like he wanted something -- wasnt content lying down anymore. got him some more food and he's eatting more. ???
 
Kiki's numbers do not warrant a dose reduction. If you drop the amount of insulin, you're going to see overall high numbers. Many of our cats will go through a period like this. I've had a day when Gabby went from the 400s to the 40s back up to the 400s all in one cycle. The good news is that the Lantus is working and bringing down Kiki's numbers, even if it's just for a short time. It's just going to take a while for his body to begin to get used to lower numbers and stop bouncing.

Make sure to test for ketones since numbers are still bouncing. The other thing to consider is how much you are feeding. Kiki is still not regulated and will probably be hungry -- A LOT of the time. It's OK to feed. As he becomes better regulated, his appetite will decrease. If he's not having his nutritional needs met, that may contribute to why he's tired.
 
Testing for ketones 1x day is sufficient? or should I be doing it more often?
Good to know about the food....he's usually pretty vocal about telling me when he wants food.
Altho, lately I've had to keep moving the bowl in front of him in order to finish it. Maybe I'll just hafta bring food to him every 3 - 4 hrs and see if he'll eat any? or would that be overkill?
He really likes the Friskies (mostly the gravy part of it). He just got up now and making rounds--nose touch with Peppa (civvie) as if to say "I love you" :mrgreen: then steered WAY clear of the other two girls (they can be nasty at times and they have nails)!
It's that stupid HI (off the charts) instead of a number that has me worried ...
