2nd Question - Lantus and Adequan Injection

Hi everyone - a follow up to my earlier string of questions. Buddy is in process of a four week treatment for his arthritis. He gets 2 Adequan injects (100 mg/ml) a week, with his next dose scheduled to be Saturday morning. With his beginning insulin on Thursday, you think this will be too much too soon? The Adequan treatments are greatly helping and I don't want to lose that traction. But I also don't want to do something that could cause problems (i.e., throw off his curve numbers if I do a curve on Saturday). Thoughts?
 
Many of the cats here have been on Adequan or a similar kind of arthritis medication (e.g., Cosequin). I seriously doubt that that one will interfere with the other. From the standpoint of humans, I have no doubt that there are a lot of people who have arthritis and who are diabetic and receive medications for both. I think you're good to go but if you have any reservations, please discuss this with your vet.
 
I can speak from experience, Zoe gets an Adequan injection everyt other week and has had no problems with it. Her numbers never changed, even when we started with the Adequan at 2 injections per week. She is now on a maintence dose of 1 injection every other week. Good Luck!
 
Good for you trying the adequan. I lost Maverick before we tried it. I found him a vet that was open minded to things like this but Maverick had other plans.

Some of the things that helped Maverick included doggies stairs to the bed and couch, and step stools and ottomans positioned other places.

We also made him a raised feeding dish and water bowl so he could eat standing up or sitting upright. Crouching was too painful for him. This helped his appetite a lot. At the end I would lift him up the stairs to help keep stress off his joints. He bunny hopped down them so going down wasn't a big deal for him.

I also bought him a heated bed from petsafe. He didn't use it because I bought it too small. But they make heated pads also.

So just some ideas outside of the adequan.
 
Our civvie, Mario is on Adequan, too...but not insulin. I can say, though, the Adequan has been a miracle for him. He started it last June, and at this point we give him "boosters" about every 3 weeks. He still has some symptoms, but not nearly like he used to. Now, he runs and plays again - and he's 17!
 
Champ is on Lantus and Adequan and there have been no complications at all. I give him the Adequan injection (I use a 29 gauge insulin syringe that holds 50 units since Champ's Adequan dose is 36 cc, which equals 36 units in an insulin syringe) on one side and give his insulin injection on the other side, one right after the other. He happily munches away at his breakfast while I do this, never even lifting up his head!!
