Good morning, a bit discouraged today. Went to the dentist specialist and they said Djoko's mouth was in a really bad shape and that if I do not move forward with the proposed treatment, it would be better for him to go to the cat paradise. I know I have made mistakes with him when I was younger (I was 20 and Djoko fell out of the balcony- never been an agile cat) and I did not go to the vet because of money. It seemed fine afterwards and he spent most of his life with my mother because he was able to go outside. Lately, he has started to have a bad breath and gums inflamed so I knew some teeth were infected. The dentist specialist said that 12 teeth needs to be extracted (maybe more) and because of his diabetes and ckd (and now a 2/6 heart murmur), he needs to be monitored carefully during the procedure. The estimate is $4,300 + tests + cardiologist visit. I love my cat and want to help him but did I did not expect this amount. I do not want him to suffer more (it was not obvious to me except for the bad breathe and messy eater). He is 14 with several conditions. I will at least do his renal profile to see how the disease progresses. If he remains stable, I am tempted to do it. If so, I truly hope he will love longer than what the internist predicted (June 2021).
