since this will be your first time trying 1u R plan to test at +2 for starters. I’ll be watching your ss for that number and then I’ll pop in so we can sort out next tests.
 
At this juncture it would be good to start getting the occasional PM+10 and PM+11 data. That information will help you when you are faced with an AMPS that is the lowest you have seen, you can get an idea of whether he is going up or coming down; a very important consideration when deciding on the appropriate R dose.

regarding tomorrow, if BG is pink or higher you can add 1u R as long as you will be able to monitor. If the AMPS is yellow all things considered I'm inclined to think skip the R. This will allow you to see what the 5.5U L will do on its own.

As you can see, using R, how much to use or not to use is very much a shot by shot affair. It takes a bit of time to get the swing of using it on top of L for your cat.
