I moved up the change a few days because my schedule is less busy right now. I can do more monitoring. He was at a fat 2.0 u dose of Lantus so I dropped his Lev dose to 1.5 u for now. That's close enough to 70% I think.

I see you decided to take the plunge! Fingers crossed that Levemir is the key to leveling out your dramatic furball! :D
Yes, Linda, I changed my mind and decided to go for it. I really appreciated your advice though. I'm so accustomed to wonky cycles with late nadirs and other drama that I don't think I'll be too shocked by Lev shenanigans. I'm not expecting Lev to be any sort of magic bullet but it'll broaden my insulin experience if nothing else ... ;)

How's Buddy doing, Teresa? Do you think he feels better on Lantus?
I really don't know, he has been sick a lot with pancreatitis. His dose at this time is 7.5u. One good think I had a blood test for Acro run and it came back negative. At the same time they are running a test for Insulin Antibodies, but it has not come back yet. He currently is using Hemp, but I cannot tell a difference with him using it.

I'm glad you're getting those tests done. Hurray that Acro was negative! At least if it's insulin antibodies that can improve over time.

Murphy had a amazing response the first two weeks on Lev - I actually had a fleeting thought he might go OTJ - alas, that hope has been dashed - but hope springs eternal for others. Here's hoping it levels out Teasel, Kris
I have been wondering about Mogs as well - so hope all is well with her. Linda, please do ask her to pop in to say hello

I've sent a short email to Mogs and asked her to let me know how she is doing and will report back when I hear anything. I know she was finding the forum overwhelming (she got so emotionally involved in all the kitties she came in contact with) so I kept it personal for now but included that there were a number of other folks here wondering how she was doing too. :)

Oh thank you, thank you, Linda :bighug:. I pray all is well with her . She really gives it her whole heart when helping and surely deserves all the time she wants . Hope u hear from her and can give us good news from Mogs the Magnificent :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Teresa this is wonderful news!!!! If the IAA comes back positive its self limiting and usually resolves in about a year. I just posted this week that it was saddening that every kitty lately that has gotten the high dose tests done all were coming back positive for Acro (well elevated IGF-1 hormone levels). So happy to hear this and I think it's reason to celebrate:):):)

Buddy's test for Insulin-like-Growth -Factor 1 came back at 60 with a Ref range of 12-92. I thought the results were wrong and asked to speak to a doctor there since every one else was coming back positive. The doctor reassured me it was correct. What does Insulin antibodies test for.

Yes that 60 is within normal range.:)
The IAA actually testes the blood for presence of the insulin antibodies. That tests takes longer to get back so perhaps this week you'll have the results back.

I know Beenie will have good results with time, she has no choice, because you take such good care of her. Are you brushing her hair tonight, I know she loves it.
Tomorrow, I will start Buddy on 8u. The insulin and test strips, everything is so expensive and Buddy's numbers keep going up.
That is why I was sure about the ACRO, I was dumb founded when I was told the results. Not that I wanted him to have ACRO, but all the other kitty's were testing that they did have it.
