I'm about to go crazy again !! Yesterday we started lantus and had a wonderful 24 hours. This morning the ascent started !! Tonight, after the PMPS +2 we reached 501. The same had happened on the days when we had started caninsulin as shown in his spreadsheet. There was a launch and that scared us a lot. The veterinarian after 5 days of using it told me to stop canninsulin and to continue checking with liquid food again, where we fell again between 340-400. Does anyone know why this can happen and what can I do ???
I am very worried!
Please help me!!

It's perfectly normal for new cats. There is a phenomenon we call bouncing. Here is the definition:
Bouncing is simply a natural reaction to what the cat's system perceives as a BG value that is "too low". "Too low" is relative. If a cat is used to BGs in the 200's, 300's, or higher for a long time, then even a BG that drops to 150 can trigger a "bounce". Bouncing can also be triggered if the blood glucose drops too low and/or too fast. The pancreas, then the liver, release glucogon, glycogen and counter-regulatory hormones. The end result is a dumping of "sugar" into the bloodstream to save the cat from going hypoglycemic from a perceived low. The action is often referred to as "liver panic" or "panicky liver". *Usually*, a bounce will clear kitty's system within 3 days (6 cycles).

It just means Zorro has gotten used to higher blood sugar numbers, and his bodies self defence mechanism dumped sugar into his body to bring it back to higher numbers again. As he gets used to normal blood sugars again, the bouncing will reduce. In the mean time, you get to go to sleep earlier tonight as it might be a day or two until he comes down.
