2014 canned food evaluation

I am so confused about the best canned food for Linus. I have been giving him Fancy Feast classics. Now a vet has suggested Purina DM feline or Royal Canin Feline Diabetic. Linus has pancreatitis, which, it seems, can not be controlled.
I can not seem to find an up to date recommended food list. I would think the ingredients and nutritional info has changed in recent years. With gravy, without gravy......fish, no fish........ Pet store, vet..........
Where to turn, what to buy?

Cat Info has a fairly recent food list.
A couple are:
Fancy Feast Classic pates are fine.
Friskies pates except Mixed Grill are OK, too.

There is nothing special in the ingredients in prescription food.

It is like pulling teeth to get information from the food manufactures so the list does not get updated that often. The latest is here:

Not to confused you more but here is also a good list. Merlin has kidney disease so not only do I have to find a low carb food but to also find food that is low in phosphorous. So this list is from Tanya's CRF website and it was recently updated. http://www.felinecrf.org/canned_food_usa.htm

Besides pancreatitis does Linus suffer from any other conditions? My cat has triaditis and so I tend to steer clear or certain ingredients that I believe might make him worse in. I am not particularly a fan of prescription food and so just go for a food that isn't too high in fat, is just from one type of animal ie chicken rather than mixed meats and isn't in a gravy.
