Our cat Pumpkin is 20 years old and she has diabetes, epilepsy and IBD. Does anyone else have a cat who is in their 20s and going through a similar thing? I would love some hope that she can live for longer.

Wow, you are doing a great job with Pumpkin at 20. We have had a number of cats live to 20 and beyond on here. My personal favourite was George in Spain who lived to 25, though he was in diabetic remission at the time. I have seen members with 20 and 21 year olds here on insulin.

Is Pumpkin on insulin? If so, what type?

There are a few low carb novel protein foods that the IBD kitties here are eating. What is Pumpkin eating?

Oh wow how lovely! It’s so nice to hear of other little ones who are in their 20s! Amazing!
Pumpkin is on prozinc insulin 2 x daily. The issue we have is that she is quite fussy with her food so we try her with different things. Mainly she likes the Sheba flakes and the gourmet natures creations. What foods can u recommend? She is our little superstar! I just don’t know what we will do without her when that time comes.

Do you know what food Pumpkin is allergic to, basically what she can eat safely. And also likes. I am too familiar with the fussiness of IBD kitties.

Some of the brands that make low carb novel proteins are Rawz, Identity, Koha, Hounds & Gatos, Fussie Cat. Ideally you'd also for food with less gums, as that can be a problem for some IBD kitties. By novel proteins I means something she might not have had before, like lamb, venison, kangaroo, rabbit.

Thank you so much, will have a look into those brands. That’s very helpful.
