Max had a bad bounce then as expected he started coming down fast. I had an appointment this morning but it only took a few minutes and was back to test and feed. I may have fed too much but didn’t know how long I’d be gone or how the cycle would play out in slowing down the drops. Just an experiment but feeding him every hour isn’t going to give me accurate numbers because they are food influenced. So not really sure how I should have handled todays cycle? Any feedback to give me on what you would have done @Wendy&Neko We may have lost his greens but he is still coming down. Somehow I need to slow him down, yet only feed every 2 hours so I can see if his dose is good or needs to be decreased, right? He doesn’t make things easy does he.

You only need to worry about the preshot test being food influenced. And if you know how much of a food bump he gets from food, then you don't even need to worry about that anymore. The suggestion to withhold food is a suggestion for new people or those without enough data. Food influenced tests during the cycle are OK, especially if it's what he normally eats.

What % carbs did you give today? Looks like his big drop was between +3 and +4.

Okay thanks for clarifying that for me. I gave him 12% carb at that +1 because I saw that he was already dropping. I hated to give him that much carb when he was over 300 but I was afraid with that big drop that he would really dive in the coming tests so that’s why I did 12%. Then I gave some 9% @+2 and again @+3 because I had to leave the house and didn’t know how long I’d be gone. I ended up getting back by +4 and gave him a little bit of 2% to keep him coasting. He acted like he was starving @+5 so I gave him the rest of the 2% in the slide and serve pack. Had the kids over after that so he didn’t get any more food. Gave him a few bites of boiled chicken just now. He will vomit if his tummy stays empty for too long so that’s just to hold him over until PMPS and dinner. Sorry that sounds like a lot. Hope it makes sense. Does that sound okay or was it too much? Should I have given more of the 12% when he had that big drop?

Pick an experiment, maybe what you just did, and repeat for a several cycles to see if it will work in the long term. You aren't going to get exactly the same numbers drop each cycle without food.

Hi Lori, sorry I missed your tag, but I know there were plenty of good qualified advisors that responded. Max's SS looks fantastic, I know that when I first started looking at his SS, I'm sure he was on something like 10 units and look at him now! Sure, I know you hate those bounces but some kitties just bounce. I know it drives you nuts but please don't beat yourself up. He is doing great, and it is because of your expert care! Those +1 and +2 numbers seem to flag when he's about to drop and it looks like you did feed 12%(that's what I relied on as well) to try and feed that curve. It looks like he has been feeling good and eating well, which is great! I am sorry your family has been going through the respiratory infections, where I live, many of my friends with grandkids have gone through RSV, it's in the schools.:oops::oops: Hopefully you are on the mend! And good to see Max is doing the dropping during the AM cycles, that has to be a blessing! Take care of yourself Lori, Max is sure blessed to have you!:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks Ruth.:bighug: Yeah I’m thinking maybe I should just leave him alone and let him stay like he was. He still bounces anyway no matter what. Maybe he would eventually stop bouncing on his own. Feeding that 12% seems to be preventing his progress in the greens. I know it takes some time to get it right but it’s driving me crazy. Max just does what he wants and if he’s going to bounce, there’s nothing I can do about that. Thank you for responding.
