LL beans! It is I!, Mannie, kitteh barista! For today I proudly offer Mannie's special 10 hour energy coffee, AND triple shot Cappuccinos with extra foam for all! Mannie the kitteh barista insisted. And for all his fans: a Venti quad Irish cream infused white mocha, with hazelnut whip, garnished with caramelized nut clusters and white chocolate shavings..... PRIMO! Only the best for all my customers....... OOOOOOOOOO! OH! Tea infusions too, by request. They is primo too! I SWEAR! Today: Hazelnut orange zest!

Yesterday was... recovery day in MannieLand. It was so nice to see him exit the red and black floors to settle into the blue one. Fantastic! What an ugly bounce he had been on. I called the IM Vet yesterday to see about switching Mannie from the gel form of the potassium to the pill form. In reading on the med I discovered that the gel is made with glycerine. I have no clue if that will spike BG or not, but thought it would be worth a try to see if there is any difference. I didn't get to speak to Mannie's vet, it was her day off, the the person I did speak with said it wouldn't. hmmmm.... true? I plan on grinding up the pill, mixing it with water, and giving it to Mannie via syringe. And no... no additives to his fuds. Since he has been sick he has become very aware of anything in his fuds that isn't fuds, and he will not eat it. So... syringe method it is. We hope for a good day today, more blues would be so cool! All is well in MannieLand. :-D :-D Appy continues to be good, LB continues to be good, ketones negative, interest in going outdoors continues. :-D I keep hoping to see improvement from the potassium, things remain kinda status quo there. Starting day 5 today. Mannie and Nicholas had a short get-to-gether yesterday, lots of pets, and stare-downs. Nicholas wanted to be sure Mannie got enough fuds, and as the day before, kept asking if we should feed him. That was cute. He'd pet his head, get down on his hands and knees to be on Mannie's level. "Hi Man-NIE!" Test was good this morning, as was the shoot. Appy was good: he ate well. :cool: 98% Close to normalcy in MannieLand, still working on that last 2%.... :-D

Have a great day everyone! it will be catch-up day for me, and shopping, errands and laundry. All the fun stuff! :roll: I hope we will have some decent weather at some point during the day, as I'd really like to get out on a trail for a few. Paws crossed!

My bean says there is tons of white stuff here! I dunno, I can't see it. So, I will believe her. And I was in a bad mood last night. I hissed and yelled at my bean and grabbed her hand and bit it. Not hard of course, but enough so she knew I was in a bad mood and didn't want to be touched. Why was I in a bad mood? Well, because I can be that's why cat(2)_steam cat(2)_steam

I hope today I am in a better mood and ready to have some fun. But not in that white stuff, I'll stay inside while you play in it. I'm going to jump in bed and have a bed party. Come off after and you can join the fun.

Morning Michelle, much better AMPS this morning and yay on the blues yesterday. Hey, there might be something to the glycerine with the potassium. It doesn't take much to throw some of our sensitive kitties off, as same with Mags. I hope it can be switched to the pill form. Sending lots of feel better and healing vines to our Mannie.
And thanks Mannie for always coming thru for us, no matter how you're feeling, with our coffee. Todays is so good as always, thank you.
Always so sweet with the interaction between DGS and Mannie. Thanks on the link. I always enjoy the swim videos and river ones, too.

NIce start for Mannie today! I agree with your potassium experiment...the glycerine very well could be a problem with Mannie's BGs, no matter what the vetty saids. They just don't know FD or our kitties the way we do. Good luck with that pill, and keep working on that last 2%, Mannie!!!

Morning Ann ~O) ~O) ~O) Today is much better. I so hoe he can continue in this vein, it would be wonderful! I wonder too on the glycerine... that gel is such a mess, and has a very strong smell to it, which he does not like. It gets on his fur and the poor guy end up smelliness like something he doesn't care for. So... I hope the switch will eliminate that, and not be such a mess to give. He will need a face wash today just to help him clean what he can't. Poor guy! THX too on DGS, and the pics + videos.

Finally found my way back onto the board (thanks to Barbara & Tuffy sending me the link). I certainly agree that glycerin could be the culprit. This quote is from the Wikipedia:

As a sugar substitute, it has approximately 27 kilocalories per teaspoon (sugar has 20) and is 60% as sweet as sucrose. It does not feed the bacteria that form plaques and cause dental cavities. As a food additive, glycerol is labeled as E number E422.
As used in foods, glycerol is categorized by the American Dietetic Association as a carbohydrate. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) carbohydrate designation includes all caloric macronutrients excluding protein and fat. Thanks on the Wikipedia link. I had been doing some reading last night, and found something similar. So we will make the switch today to the pill and see how he does. I know he will enjoy not having to smell that gel (the aroma is very strong), and having the mess in his fur. I wash him, but the scent is still there - the poor guy! yes too on that contradiction.... :roll: THX on today.

Mannie is looking good... Hopefully just a quick food spike and back down he'll go... Fingers crossed. Good luck with the switch to pills, hopefully it will help... If nothing else, at least he won't have to smell that yucky gel stuff (and neither will you).

Nice day for Mannie today! Love those BLUES. :-D I think I hear the sounds of a band tuning up and getting ready to rock the PNW.

It's a dry day here, hope it is for you too and you get out and enjoy your Saturday. It's so cute that Nicholas makes sure Mannie has enough fuds.

Hi Wendy - Me too! I am sure the BMG band rocked the house for a while this afternoon. Weather has been odd.... foggy drizzle this morning, and it never really improved much this afternoon. Got some errands done and then went and visited my DD, DSIL, and Nicholas.

HI Michelle.....I'm sorry I can't read all of Mannie's condo. I'm having trouble concentrating lately, and not reading much.
However I did see mention of the glycerin.

Susan gave Checkers a bag of treats of Chicken and Shrimp...it spiked his bg terribly. It took a few days to figure out it was that treat. I had discussion about it in his condo, a little after Christmas.
It turns out that the glycerin in the treats does spike bg. Took a lot of Googling to find it.

Hi barb - no worries... it's long, I know. Thank you for the info on the glycerin. I remember that discussion in your condo a while back, just couldn't remember when it was, or the outcome. well no more of the gel for Mannie. Sure hope it makes a difference. I suspect it will.
