Last night I switched Lily to a 1 unit dose. I was only able to check her at +2 = 491. I ended up falling asleep so I didn't get another one in.
This morning she was +10.5 = 478 and
her AMPS was 459.
Gave Lily 1 unit of insulin this morning.

@Gill & George, Lily had been on a 1 unit Lantus dose twice a day in November - early January. After she went to the hospital in January they told me to put Lily back on 1 unit twice a day. Being out of state the hospital suggested to talk to the original Animal hospital for care in NY who was working with Lily since October. I am not able to go there at this time as I am in NC.
Long story short, the real answer is I panicked and saw the horrible numbers Lily had in the 400s, 500s, & 600s and I was scared about 2 units so I did 1.5 units. I just learned from being on here that the dosage is based on the low points of the day. (nadirs) Hence, this is why I joined here because I was not understanding how in the world the numbers go 96 - 692. I am learning though and I am here trying to keep Lily out of the hospital.
Good Luck with your George today Gill!!!
Hopefully he can get back on track too!

From the info I've seen on her ss and read on the condo, I'm not sure how you arrived at the dose of 1.5u??
