Bashful came home from DBF's house last night. Seemed to take the trip a "little" better than the trip over (emphasis on "little")..only cried 90% instead of 100% of the way home. LOL Numbers came down nicely last night, in spite of that.

My only concern was that he was kinda hiding out part of last night and then again this morning. When I woke up this a.m. he was in my room, but he was kinda hiding beside the bedside table (more often than not he's on the bed with me). He did eat his breakfast and got his shot this a.m. - numbers not super high (comparitively). But then went into hiding in the spare bedroom closet. I am sure he was probably hiding from Momma Bean out of fear of another car ride (and the ever persistent pokies), but it concerns me none-the-less. I'll be keeping a close eye on him tonight to see if he bounces back. It's not wholly unusual for him to be off by himself for a nap, but unusual for him to go hide in the spare bedroom closet, which is where I found him at one point last night and again this morning. Since I'm doing things out of the norm (trips), this could be the cause, but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Ack..I always worry so. In general he seems fine otherwise, good coat and alert, and in that I saw him eat and drink last night and again this morning. I think I'll also check his ketones tonight, just to err on the side of caution.

Aw poor Bashful; I guess he is not big on those trips!

I try to give Shadoe lots more attention and make no demands on her when she is in a hidey mood.
It may seem like the only thing we want them for is to poke and jab, never just ordinary cuddles, brushing, and soothing talk. Oh yeah, special treats, and all of those things, well, just cuz.

If he wants to keep hiding, maybe you can give him some things of his, in his new hidey spot, just to let him know that you know where he is and that's OK with you.

I hope Bashful comes around as time passes; I am sure he will.

Thanks Gayle - those are GREAT ideas. I'm sure he's just upset by the whole kettle of fish. I'll give him a soft blankie for in there and also go in and give him a brush (he LOVES to get brushed) and give him some chicken treats tonight off and on as well. I've been trying to just go give him random lovies throughout this process, so that he doesn't think all I want to do is torture him every time I see him, but I guess I need to up that a little, especially with and after the car trips he hates. I'm sure he'll come out after he's had some breathing room. He did come sit next to me on the couch a couple times last night, but I think he's sick of all the pokies and needles and such.

Poor little guy. :sad: Such a mean Momma Bean.

You're most welcome. Sometimes we have to walk a mile in their paws to know what's up.

If you turn his hidey spot into his safe spot, it will be a postive place instead of a negative place.

Poor little Bashful.....glad he seems to be eating ok....but I wish he wasn't hiding.
Do you use a carrier. If so, is it put away or do you still have it out? He might think
you are going for another ride soon and he is not thrilled. Hope that's what it is.
Good that you will be giving him special attention too...

Hey Theresa,
I thought that the carry case may have been a problem so I solved that one easy - I never put it away!
I have two of them and they are out in the open so that both Shadoe and Booboo can go in and out whenever they like, and they do!
I put one of their blankets inside and quite often, they go into the cases and sleep.

If nothing else, having the case out already makes their getaway attempts all failures when we do have to use the cases :lol:

Mine's been out for weeks now, primarily for that reason. If it's always out, maybe it's not something to be feared (but Bash let's me know in no uncertain terms that he doesn't LIKE being in the carrying case.) LOL
