? $2,800 dental estimate

Just got Petey's dental estimate for next Tuesday, of $2,800, is that the going rate?

This estimate included a potential of 24 extractions 8 minor, 8 moderate, 8 major. I think that estimate is excessive and no way I could let them take that many teeth at once??!

For that number of teeth, it's possible. A cat has 30 teeth so it's almost a full mouth extraction. Are you using a veterinary dentist? If not, I'd get a second opinion from a specialist.

That's a wise decision. Unfortunately I could not find any near me... I'll search again.

She said once they had xrays they would call me with the number of extractions.. maybe I only ok the few they took a pic of last visit? Then I have xrays to consult a specialist?

If it helps, I just looked up the invoice from Esse's cleaning/extraction last Spring -- it was three teeth (one minor, one moderate, one major) -- total was about $1200 including the pre-op bloodwork.

Thank you! Yes, they did give worst case scenario. I'm more worried about the trauma of that many possible extracations.

If he's needing that many teeth extracted, I can't imagine how his mouth must hurt. And how that pain must be affecting his bg. Poor baby!
