Good number this morning comparatively.

And wow, the testing does get easier after a couple of days and treats. She jumps right up on the desk when I pull out the kit and waits for the treats. She doesn't even growl much while I'm sticking her, and the blood comes faster and better now.

I'm going to feed right now, then give the 1u shot 10 minutes later. I want to try to get +1,2,4,6,8 levels in today to see just how that PZI is dropping her. Chicken is going in the pot in a few also.

Re: 2/8 Sabian (PZI 1u) AMPS-307

Everything is looking good, Patrick. It is amazing how they come to accept the testing. I know newbies do not believe us when we say it gets to be a pleasant routine, but it does. Please share your experience with newbies; it means a lot for them to hear from other new people that this is doable.

Re: 2/8 Sabian (PZI 1u) AMPS-307

Patrick, eventually you will even be able to do away with the treats and just use kisses and lots of praise after each poke. As crazy as it sounds the ear also will learn to bleed without even warming up.

Looks like I'm trying to get a curve in today.

AMPS - 307
1u shot given with 1/4c 9L Ocean Whitefish

+1 - 243
+3 - 209

She is so sweet! I want to smooch her on the nose. cat_pet_icon
You're doing a great job!

I agree! That nose is crying out for a kiss!

Looks like Sabian is a early nadir kitty. I hope she surfs those mid 200's for you today!

Wow. Back up to 330 at the +7 test. Looks like I might have to up the dose tomorrow?

I do have to commend her on bearing with the tests today. She's had relatively little sleep compared to what she normally does. Last night she fell asleep on my chest while watching a movie. This situation is definitely garnering her more attention, and she's getting more and more affectionate.

I was thinking about that this morning, Patrick. I would agree with an increase tomorrow morning. (It's best to make dose changes in the am so you can observe and test) Your choice- +.25 or +.5

OMG, I love those nose pictures/video.......we all know, as you are finding out yourself, there becomes a much stronger bond between the "bean" and the diabetic kitty. They do know we are trying our best to help them. The still pic of Sabian is adorable.

Final reading before PMPS is a 318. Hopefully she'll stay leveled off in the low 300s until dose time in another 1.5 hours.

Agree with the dose increase. You just aren't getting the duration you need. And I vote that you get the U100 syringes and use the conversion chart. Definitely print it out and have in front of you. Put the U40 syringes in the garage so you don't confuse them.

How'd the boiled chicken do? Everyone happy and sleeping it off? On a cold winter night warm chicken sure is good. Hope they saved some for you too. I like chicken thighs cause you don't have a lot of deboning to do nor worry about tiny bones. If you ever decide to make your own raw food I have a grinder you can use. I have 2 of them. Visit Dr. Lisa's site for the recipe. It's listed someplace on the links section. I just don't remember it right now.

Talked to Samantha and she said she sells the liv-a-little treats for $13.75 for 16 oz. You normally have to pay a whole lot more for just 2.2 oz. Do a google search and compare prices. She buys wholesale and sells to those of us in the area at wholesale. Let me know if you want to do that for the little darlings. Love the pics.

I had a reply all typed up, but closed the browser window accidentally. Ugh. Her PM+2 was 216 so she's still on track with her curve of the past few doses it seems.

I still have a whole supply of U40s so I may wait on that.

They didn't really go for it much. I'm going to have to tinker with the recipe to see what they like. I did have myself some chicken noodle soup and some homemade bread though, so no big loss. Sabian has notoriously been picky with food, but she's been getting better lately. Nyssa, however, will not eat anything but Science Diet dry meal, so it'll take some work to get her off that. Since everything has happened with Sabian, I'm making the move to take them all off of dry food.

I might, but I"m wary of spending much more on treats without any real testing first. I got the Fortiflora ($28!) and it seems to have literally no effect on them.

We'll see though. Thanks!
