Really? I honestly think if we checked Max every 30 minutes he’d still find a way to get me. I am trying so hard to have a positive attitude and patiently wait for things to flatten out, but I don’t know what to do anymore. Is there nothing to do at all and just leave him be? I’m feeding 7%, or 9% before onset like I did today to slow it down. Trying it at different times to catch it. These big drops like that cause astronomical bounces for Max. Am I doing something wrong or is it just going to be like this? Someone please give me some opinions if you will. This seems like it’s been going on a really long time now. It’s almost like it was way back when he was on Vetsulin, in how the insulin onsets and drops him so fast. If he wouldn’t bounce it wouldn’t be so bad I guess. It can’t be good for his body, but his nadirs are great. It seems like he is used to lower numbers a little better, but it’s because of the fast drop down causing the bounce. I’m tagging some people but anyone feel free to help. He’s an acro cat so he’s a little different but anything might work so I’m open to ideas. @Wendy&Neko @FrostD @tiffmaxee @Suzanne & Darcy @Bandit's Mom @Tiger(GA) and Ruth, anyone else.

At least he stays pretty flat throughout the middle of the cycle. I’m very happy with that. Guess I shouldn’t be complaining.

Looks like the higher LC worked at +2.5 to slow him down, but maybe the earlier feeding needs to be higher % in carbs. Unfortunately, what each cat needs in ECID and you'll need to experiment with what works for Max. Food experiments also take some time. You should make one change and try it for a couple weeks, then try the next change.

On the bright side, his PM bounces are letting you sleep. Neko did the opposite of Max, night time drops and day time bounces, for about 3 months straight.

Thanks Wendy. You are totally right about the night time bounces. Not complaining about that for sure. I was just wondering if some cats never stop bouncing. Also wondering why Levemir onsets so early in his cycle. He seems so different than most others on Levemir from what I can see. I don’t mind that at all, I was just trying to understand what is happening with him so I can better help him get to a more stable cycle. The ECID is definitely true. I will try a higher carb at the +1 time. If I’m already giving him 9% and need a higher carb, isn’t 10% a MC? That would be okay to do?

Okay got it, I think. Max is usually very carb sensitive, but I think if he’s on his way down from a bounce, he may need MC to stop the dive. Looks like I have a new experiment to try. Thanks so much.:)

Thanks. If he’s coming down in the morning I’m probably giving him MC because I have an appointment and may be gone for most of the morning tomorrow. Maybe that will slow him down.

Forest from the trees, Lori ;)

His spreadsheet looks fantastic! His bounces are so short-lived, and his midcycles are lovely.

Have you tried just asking him when he's planning to break a bounce?

I don't think anything needs messed with. But if it's really driving you nuts, my only thought is to get that +1 when he's bouncing - if it's a good drop, try something higher than that 9%. 13% maybe?

(sorry haven't been around much...trying to keep Vetsulin/ProZinc afloat and my hands are full!)

You’re right. I’m just too focused on getting him to flat cycles now that he’s seeing some good numbers. If only he could tell me his plans lol.
I’m sure you do have your hands full. I hope you and your family are well. We have all had terrible upper respiratory infections around here. Also have another grand baby due in August. Thank you for your help Melissa.

Congrats!

We moved past respiratory and into stomach virus territory  the respiratory ones are nasty, whatever we caught (not COVID or flu a/b), the kids ran 104/105 fevers for 4 days. Scary. I don't ever remember getting that high a fever.
