So we increased to 1.25u tonight and we have a blue!
Also Tig had his check up today - Vet said he looked great! He weighs the same as he did before this all started. His coat looks nice, they couldn't believe how chill and healthy he was considering the last time they saw him they were panicking and sending us to the ER vet! What a great day!

Hope everyone has a good night!!!!

Great vet report, I'm glad he's doing and feeling so well:)

Hope this dose brings him into better numbers. It does look like he needs more insulin, I hate to see kitties in numbers that appear to be for the most part above the renal threshold.

With DKA in his history I don't like seeing those high numbers, though on their own they won't lead to DKA they can be sign that kitty is not getting a enough insulin and this is one of the ingredients that can lead to DKA rearing it's ugly head
The others being
not getting enough calories / inappetance
infection or other systemic stress.

I am so glad that you are monitoring for ketones, though if it were me I'd probably do it at least daily if he were in high numbers or showing any symptoms of DKA

All that said as far as I understand the risk is higher if DKA is in recent history less so if it's been a while, which if 1/2018 was the last DKA episode, then I would be less concerned than if it was just a couple of months ago.

Yeah the DKA was July last year. It feels like a lifetime ago. I do try to test for ketones more when he's higher and give him (and my wallet) a break when he's a little lower. He literally has none of those signs at this time, but we clearly decreased his insulin more than we should have at some point and he went all out of whack. H was consistently surfing blues and some greens every 3rd night until the middle of January. Trying to get back there now. If he shows any of those signs I will test more frequently . . . or more likely rush him to the vet as we are a little hyper protective sometimes lol
