Sabian just woke me up for a treat, and what better time to get a reading? Even in my sleepy haze and some mmrroowwrrring from her, we got a good sized drop and it came back 343. Another 3 hours until shot time, maybe I can stay asleep now.

Re: 2/7 Sabian (PZI) AMPS-388 1u

It's a brand new day! Just took an AMPS test of 388 and administered 1u. Fed low-carb, 9L Chicken & Tuna and treated with a few more dry nibbles. I'm going to venture to the actual grocery store today to see what they have. Hopefully they'll have milk, bread, eggs, cheese, etc. EVERYTHING has been bought out here.

Good thing I roast my own coffee! ~O)

I'll look in the store today, but I just haven't made it to Petsmart yet. Hopefully soon though.

Re: 2/7 Sabian (PZI) AMPS-388 1u

One low carb treat I found for my Max was at Wal-Mart in the dog treat aisle, the brand name is Waggin Train. They have several different types of doggie treats, however, the ones we use are either duck or chicken jerky. They are pure dried muscle meat. Since they are made for dogs they were too large for kitties, so I just took kitchen shears and cut them up into bite-size pieces and stored them in a Tuperware container, with the little moisture packet that came in the bag. The duck is fairly pricey, but the chicken you can get 22oz. for $10, and that makes a ton of cat size treats.

I had this brilliant idea, Patrick, that I'd go to Reaser's online and order food, let them pick it out, and then just pick it up....dang, the service has been cancelled until Friday. I've hurt my back shoveling the sidewalk and driveway (although I don't know why I bothered since the side street is so bad I got stuck this morning trying to get to work) so am really babying my back. Oh well, probably be off work after Tuesday for the next snowstorm. This time I'm letting mother nature take care of the driveway!

I did get to Petsmart and bought 80 pounds of litter (which has not helped my back), cases and cases of canned and pouches, and even dry food in case we run out of canned and for the die-hard dry eaters. The kitties are set. I'm craving pizza, chips, CHOCOLATE.

Glad you are having better success with the testing. Saw your kitties pics. Beautiful kitties. You must be a camera person who knows how to take those adorable poses. If so, have I got a job for you!

Have you let your vet know what you're doing yet?
PM me who your vet is so I'll know who NOT to send people to.

Hi. I'm a newbie too. You're Sabian is a beautiful cat and you've got some great pic's of her. You will be amazed at the difference the low carb wet will do in lowering your kitty's numbers, at least I was. Also, you're thread Friday really helped me with all the tips and tricks for home testing from the forum. I just started home testing Saturday. I'm a lurker (is that the right term?) and read all the newbie posts because I have the same questions. Good luck with the snow, getting to the store, and most importantly getting Sabian regulated. I'm right there with ya.

Re: 2/7 Sabian (PZI) AMPS-388 1u +4-126

Just tested for +4. 126. I'm going to test again at +5 and +6 to check where she's leveling out at. It's definitely getting easier to test her, because she's a treat-maniac.

Re: 2/7 Sabian (PZI) AMPS-388 1u +4-126

Glad testing is getting easier. Treats are the great motivator. That is a nice low +4. Maybe the low carb is kicking in. Definitely get the +5/6 number so you can see how much lower she goes.

Re: 2/7 Sabian (PZI) AMPS-388 1u +4-126

She's busy eating some Friskies salmon dinner right now. I had to spike it with a couple pellets of her dry treat to get her to eat it. I'm going to head over to Petsmart to try and find some proper treats and I'll look for the FortiFlora to sprinkle on the foods she isn't just pouncing on. I think she just LOVES carbs...and I know the feeling.

Re: 2/7 Sabian (PZI) AMPS-388 1u +4-126

Does she like boiled chicken? I get the packages of chicken thighs at Sam's. They are so meaty; much more so than Reasors. When they are cooking the cats don't leave the kitchen. You can save the chicken stock for yourself or add to some of the canned. I get so much chicken stock that I pass it out to my neighbors that have dogs to pour over the dry food.

Samantha orders liv-a-littles in bulk for those of us in the area and then we pay her. If you're interested let me know.

I think you can get FortiFlora only from vets or online, Patrick. But if your PetSmart has a vet, they might sell it to you.

I found some FortiFlora at Southern Agriculture. It doesn't require a prescription, but it's in their locked cabinet. $28.99. Yikers.

Also, took a +6 reading from her and it was 213. Planning on holding off on the testing until PMPS tonight.

So today anyway her nadir was +4 or +5. That is just something to note - that she may go down early in the cycle. Course, tomorrow it may change.

You only need a "dressing" of the FortiFlora on top of the food. Just enough to get her interested.
