Drinking tons and lots of pee in box. I don't know which meter was right but neither under 50 so I did shoot. I finally got test strips for the meter Auntie Marje sent me and set it up. I'm going to read the manual and try it next time there is doubt.

He ate his Gerbers and Mauri kangaroo and second helping of Mauri so he should be fine. I gave him ondansetron, miralax, binder, potassium. I'm thinking of starting fluids but want to do it when I can see how he does so might not start until next week. He drinks and pees it right out so I think he might do the same with fluids but maybe it will help. I hate giving them but he is easier than my past cats except when it comes to touching his paws.

Vines and prayers to all in need.

Glad to hear he ate good today. Numbers look great, does he seem to feel OK? Have a good day and lots of vines for Max.

Yo Max,
I'm at the Lagoon we can hang out together. I don't want you to go too deep. The sharks are lurking.
Cuz Michael

Elise,
Glad Max ate good today.
Sending bunches of vines for Max from Riverside, Ca.:)

I wish I knew. He sleeps a lot unless he is eating, drinking, or in his litter box. I'd feel better if I knew he is feeling okay. I watch my elderly mother decline and she tells me she feels rotten every day. My fear is that Max feels the same way. I used to be able to tell pancreatitis episodes by his appetite but I think hunger from diabetes trumps that.

I sure don't have any advice. Just my experience with Polly's p'titis bouts. This last go round a few weeks ago, her appy was in over-drive. Odanestron kicked it up even another notch. Her numbers tumbled. Even with the bupe she was still droopy, lethargic. I held off on fluids for a day after starting the other treatments. Boom. In a day, she started to perk up. Coincidence? Maybe.

She doesn't, however, have kidney issues. And none of my kidney kitties had FD, but helping their hydration with fluids made a huge difference with them.

Not advice. Just experience with my cats over the years. ECID and you know Max.

One step at a time, Elise. Just watch out for all those vines that LL has spread all over you and those you love.

Marilyn and Polly

Vines for your mom and your sweet Max. I'd been wondering how she is, but hate to keep asking you. Getting old is hard - an understatement.

The first time we gave punkin fluids his BGs plummeted - which I think was likely because he must've been dehydrated. It never did that again, but I think it's a very good reason to be home for the hours after you initially give fluids.

Thanks Julie. If I remember correctly you would shoot in the scruff? I shoot on his side or belly. When he got fluids at tge vet's office it was after +7 so it didn't do a thing.

I've almost gone through 42 pounds of litter in 5 weeks and I don't dump it out. I clean it multiple times a day/night. He's been drinking even during the early morning hours and I put water in his food. He's never had a rise in kidney values from pancreatitis so I'm as sure as I can be that he's stage 3 now and the higher end of it. I think he has pancreatitis most of the time but hides it well.

The binder is already having an effect on his bowels. I increased to twice a day butjust a tiny bit this morning so I'll give him closer to 1/4 than 1/8 t tonight. Ondansetron causes it to be an issue as well.

i think punkin had chronic pancreatitis too. After he had an acute episode, his spec fPL number never went down.

Yes, we shot in the scruff but gave fluids several inches back and 3 hours later after the shot.

Punkin went through a ton of litter too. I don't know what stage his kidney disease was - i was just told it was at the beginning, but don't know how far it progressed. He had so many other issues that were more important, primarily anemia, and we focused on those.

I'm sorry Max has you so concerned. I'm glad he's eating well, though, and his numbers are great. FWIW, Harvey drinks a lot of water and pees a lot, and his kidney values, just tested yesterday, are perfect!!! So it may not mean his kidneys are worse. I go through a lot of litter, between Harvey and Cinco, who also has no kidney issues and drinks and pees A LOT.

Sending lots more vines and prayers and :bighug:s.

Oh, and since no one else did, I'll give you your:

Max's kidney numbers took a big jump up. His creatinine rose to 4.2 and BUN was 80. He is no longer concentrating his urine and that figure is without fluids so unfortunately he is much worse. Do you give Harvey fluids?

I'm glad Harvey's numbers are perfect!

i know how you feel Elise I wonder about Vyktor's QOL a lot these days too but he's still purring for me and he hasn't told me that he's ready so we soldier on. Max will let you know if he's had enough :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm not at that point yet but I don't like the way he's trending. He's eating well and I get headbutts and purring too. So like you I soldier on!

Glad he's eating- and I am sure that your love helps him, even if he can't tell you what is going on.. Glad he is still headbutting and purring for you too- that does count for ALOT :)
