I think this is the ECID part... except for the one time Sneakers doesn't really spike at feeding- it is sometimes hours later. Has anyone else have that happen?

Her numbers are creeping up so I think I will start doing 2u in the morning so I can continue todays curve at the same level. Does that sound good?

Thanks.

Looks like I got 2 nadirs... yay me :-D . Both in the yellows and she goes up to the reds before shot time.

That does stick out doesn't it? She seems to climb to +3, then drop, which makes it look like she has a late insulin "onset". Then pretty fast down to nadir. I think the 2nd spike, like on the 28th and the 29th especially, might be her liver dumping glucose into her system due to the drop. Even though the nadir isn't a real low number, it is low to her, to what she is used to. That happens frequently at the beginning of treatment. We call it "liver panic". It goes away once her body figures out that the lows aren't life threatening and it gets used to lower numbers. It may happen again down the road like the first couple times she sees blues or greeens, but it eventually lessens or stops.

Have you considered going up by .25 at a time? I think it looks like she could use a bit more. Going up in .25 increments can be less of a shock, so it might help avert the "panic" I mentioned to some degree. Also, at some point you will find the "right dose". One that works when a higher or lower dose wouldn't work as well. Upping .5 might cause you to "miss" that right dose.

Thanks Carl, that sounds good. I know she needs more but don't want to hit too high.

I will try 1.75- I use the 40u syringes so it might be more guessing than accurate somedays. I have decided to buy the 100u syrings next time and print out the chart... in 50 days  .

For what it is worth....
Bob started at 1u, and went up to 4.0, then back to eventually zero. Some kitties here have never gone as high as 1u when just the diet change did almost the whole "job". 1.75 or 2.0 aren't radical. Kim's kitty drinks the stuff! But it takes that much to keep her in good numbers. ECID for sure. Little steps are just more logical, so glad you are going that way.

I'm hoping that in 50 days, you won't need new syringes! Once in a while, check out the "Supply Closet" forum. A lot of times people are giving stuff away for the price of postage when they have extras or their cats no longer need the supplies. Good option before hitting the "process cart" button!

Thanks.
If I feel I need them earlier I will check and then offer what I have left through the closet.

FWIW, 100U syringes aren't prohibitively expensive. You could always order them now and give away / sell your 40Us. I bought mine here because I had trouble finding 100U syringes with .5 unit syringes on the FMDB affiliates.
