morning all,
things are so so here....last night he stayed out of the tub for most of the night...going back in there after midnight...

his lack of appetite since the bupe started is really draining me...as i need to make sure i offer him whatever food he'll eat...carb, no carb, high phos, low phos....he eats micro meals...but he sure loves that chicken dust...will have to stock up again on it....

after i feed him at 3 am while he was in the tub...i went back to bed in the spare room and when my alarm woke me up at 4 am for his bupe dose i found him on the floor by the entrance in the spare room...i was shocked...so it is a small improvement rather than him spend 24/7 in the tub...he purr away and i rubbed his belly and he was so affectionate (the Rocket i know)...we cuddled but then 10 mins later i needed to see if he ate...and not much...then the bupe dose...he stayed out but it is as though he has an internal clock...same thing happened yesterday afternoon....his am/ps is 5:30 am/pm....yesterday about 10 mins before 5:30 pm he went back to the tub...and the same thing happened this morning...i never went to check on him...i let him be...they are very very smart indeed....

then 6 am came and it was time for his pheno...he ate some more...but decided he wanted lots of chicken dust...i did find him 45 mins later in the litter box in his meatloaf position...but then i got him out of there and took him to the futon and he slept like a baby for about 1 hr...after that he went back to the tub...

very small improvements and i will take what he gives me...

today would have been (if i'm not mistaken) his otj party for a second time...being without insulin 14 days...but i know that won't be the case once he starts the pred...

oh how i wished things would have turned out so different for us here...but i do admire him for being so brave...

Re: 2/5 Rocket AM BG=no test

I admire you both for being so brave. The little glimmers of wellness are heartwarming. Purring for a belly rub helped fill your heart up some.

Congrats on being OTJ a second time. I'm glad you haven't had to worry about testing like crazy and managing him from going hypo for a couple weeks.

Sending hugs for you both.

oh Karrie...he is not considered otj....we are starting the pred on monday....

Re: 2/5 Rocket AM BG=no test

I know, the Prednisone will make that go away. Still he should get some kudos for not being on insulin for two weeks

Re: 2/5 Rocket AM BG=no test

Claudia, we are still keeping you and Rocket in our hearts and prayers every day. I agree, you BOTH are very brave through all this. Glad there are at least small improvements and very happy you got some of the old Rocket. Continued healing and strength vines for you both.

The pred may not effect his bg much, Muffin is OTJ and on pred for a CP flare, and her bg only rises to mid 100's for the cycle after she takes it. The next morning (she takes it in the evening) her bg is normal again. Hoping that's all the effect it will have for Rocket, too.

Re: 2/5 Rocket AM BG=no test

i found his OTJ party (Nov 08) but can't put it in my signature as it tells me i'm over the 255 words needed...or something to that sort....

i just wanted to share with you all the happy times....

and i see some of you did attend the party then....

Thinking about you and Rocket today and sending positive and hopeful thoughts and prayers. I'm glad Rocket is giving you a few signs of his old self today.

Re: 2/5 Rocket AM BG=no test

Thanks for posting the link to the OTJ party, Claudia. Those were the good old days. It's always nice to look back at all of the Oldtimers posting back then, and to see a lot of them still here now. I keep you and Rocket in my thoughts every day.

Re: 2/5 Rocket AM BG=no test

You are very brave, too, Claudia. You have borne this like a trooper and just keep fighting for him. I don't know if anyone has asked this or if you use it but I just ordered Clinicare RF for my Gussie to give him some extra calories. Of course, then there's the question of whether or not one can get it in them. Thinking of you all and sending healing vines.

Clinicare if high in carbs...and yes i do have it for when he stops eating altogether due to his CRF....he used to get 2 cc with his Calcitriol every 3.5 days from Jul08 to Jan11 (vet took him off of the Calcitriol)

you can mix it in their food....a few drops at a time...the shelf life once opened is only 72 hrs...since it's a big can i used to freeze it in small containers dividing it up into small portions...

i swear he has an internal clock....he got up about 10 mins before testing time would have been....went to use the LB...i tried to feed him...he licked it a couple of times then looked at me sort of funny....as though to say "you are up to no good around this time, what has changed?"

so soon after that he went back into the tub....he spent the entire afternoon sleeping by the entrance of the spare room....i covered him with his blankets and he slept away....

so AM and PM BG=no testing.....i was oh so tempted...but figured if it's too stressful for him i will give him a well deserved break....

please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers....

Hi Claudia, Very good to read that Rocket showed some improvement today. Keep it up, Rocket!
Loved your OTJ party condo. All the kitties and their beans sure had a good time.
Keeping you in our prayers and thoughts. Hoping you will have a comfortable night.

Hugs a plenty,

Ella & Rusty

Dear (((Claudia, DH and Rocket)))

I'm sorry to hear how hard things are for you guys.

I want everyone to know that DCIN has been fundraising for Rocket. If you can even spare a dollor or two. Anything at all helps. The cost for our sick furbabies is astronomical. Thank your all for your support. Even of it is a few scritches, Rocket and Claudia will appreciate it.

Thank you for all your love and concern. We really feel it, and it helps more than you can know. cat_pet_icon .

P.S I hope I have not overstepped my bounds.

Just read Rockets OTJ party thread. Neat seeing people that I know from LL were at your party back in 2008. This is an amazing group of people.

Thanks for sharing the link. Keep it up Rocket!!! OTJx2 so far.

So glad he is enjoying not being tested and he had more glimpses of betterness today. How is the trembling? Do you think the bupe is working overall?

Cheryl you have a big heart. I wish there were more people like all of you in my real world. Hugs.

oh Cheryl you are so kind....i know Whiskers needs it too...
with me not working things are pretty tough...i know..and now that i do not know how long i have with him or how he will react to the treatment i have postponed looking for a job...
you have a big heart Cheryl....you need it too...you are overwhelmed with so many furbabies....

Don't worry,

Whiskers is our main concern. The other special needs pets are holding their own, and do not need special care right now. I'll let everyone if they do.

Claudia, Rocket, and DH, try to get some rest. We are snuggled in bed. nite nite.
