and the good news is that punkin's liver is in excellent working condition! :-D

he somehow managed to clean his plate this morning, then as he headed into the laundry room to check out anya's, he was happily purring away. "hello, i think she may have left a little for me on her plate!" he's a hoot. ;-) nothing if not predictable!

gave him .5u R to knock the top off of this bounce. i hope it doesn't make him plummet, but i'm here all weekend and will monitor him.

the sky is beautiful this morning - mostly clear blue with streaks of pink clouds where the rising sun is touching them. a new day awaits.

Hi Julie, I hope the R helps clear Punkin's bounce. So cute the way he looks for some leftovers on Anya's plate. thanks for stopping by Maggie's condo yesterday to check on her pic. She's letting me have my fun with the camera. I love the way you describe the morning; sounds like a lovely day. Have a wonderful Saturday.

Julie - isn't that blue such a welcome sight this time of year? It just makes my heart sing. Have a WONDERFUL day and hope Sir Punkin comes down off that uugly number.

Just the thought that may possibly be leftovers to be had makes for a purry Punkin. The dude likes his fuds! I hope the R flattens his bounce.

Yuck on the bounce. I hope the R takes the edge off. What a sweet boy always helping you and Anya clean up. Sounds beautiful there today. Gray, overcast and in the 40's here but a nice day for Feb. have a great day Julie!

the best news of today - he came and climbed up on me and wanted to snuggle. stayed with me for about 45 minutes, during which time i was forced to take a nap. then he left, anya climbed up, so i was once again cat-locked and went right back to sleep
after another half hour punkin returned, climbed right over punkin so he could be up next to my face, parked and stayed with me for another little while.

total nap: 2 hours. fine with me! i think he must be feeling good to want to be held.

he might be high, but overall he seems good. his pupils were contracting almost completely normally today - probably 90% closed in the sunshine.

i used another .5 R tonight. I'm still not clear on when during a bounce it's ok to use it, but i think this is early enough and high enough that he needed it.

hehe loved the picture! that's punkin - only he'd like all 5 dishes, thankyouverymuch!

Aw, punkin, you are so sweet to force your mamabean to take a nap! That is so cool about his pupils. Have you seen any correlation with pupil action and dose reduction?

doesn't seem to be any relationship. i think they respond the most when he's been sleeping on his back. he especially likes to do that for his mid-afternoon nap. guessing by flipping over he's taking the pressure off of his optic tracks. the tumor is sitting on them.

the SRT doesn't affect the size of the tumor. it will remain - hopefully it will eventually shrink some, but i don't know. "all" it does is to not allow the tumor cells to replace themselves. as they hit their normal lifespan they will die, but not be replaced.

i am kinda wondering why we haven't had a dose reduction in a long time. i hope we're not done seeing the effects of the SRT. i may email CSU and ask more about how long we might expect to continue seeing changes. i heard from the vet about 2 weeks ago just asking how punkin was doing, if he was still on insulin, etc.

just re-read the last email from dr lunn at CSU. she said that they've had cats go OTJ as long as 19 months after the SRT.

we keep on keeping on. and hoping. :-D

It's one of the great joys in life to take a nap with a cat next to you. Two cats is even better.

Fingers crossed that the SRT continues to keep those tumor cells at bay.

Interesting about pupil action after sleeping on his back. Yep, that's what we're doing too, just keep on keeping on. :smile: We sure do have our paws crossed for punkin.

I think the tricky part is that bounces are moving targets; when they start, severity, how long before they clear - these things change.

You are accumulating some good data on R response/use now. Do you have an R scale you are using as a guide?

basically i'd stopped giving it last week. we talked about giving .5 if he's over 350. with him being green yesterday, then high all day i am thinking he probably has another day or so to the bounce.

can you suggest something? i'm sorry i'm being so dense about this.
 
You aren't being dense - it takes time.

I would try .5u on any PS greater than 325 as well as .25u at +6 if he is 325 or higher and in the thick of a bounce.
If he is at the front end of a bounce at +6 then maybe .5u instead of .25u.

what do you think?
