Good Morning!

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=113122#p1192307

Last night's recap;
PMPS 229
+2 257
+4 114 snack of plain baked chicken, 1 tbsp
+8 82  snack of plain baked chicken, 1 tbsp
+10 Ole was suppose to wake me up, but he didn't, oopsie I have to be more careful.
+11 470 Boing! ToR

I felt because his green number was past nadir, I was safe to sleep for a couple of hours because with out fail, Ole wakes me up at 4am. Okay, except for this morning, so I missed this bounce. He seems to be recovering from it quickly though. I feel like I am going to have to bone up on a lower number strategy, what do you think?

Ole is well, and the 5 P's are in order.

I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!

That's a nice green number! And already starting to clear that yucky red bounce!

Ole? Want to take a group field trip to the lower floors? You and Cobb go together so no one gets lost!

Re: 2/4 Ole AMPS 387

Good morning Rebekah! That  was a very pleasant surprise last night. :-D Of course it always happens in the wee hours of the night.

Do you think Ole has a particular time that he nadirs? I'm not very good at spotting those, as Neko nadirs whenever she wants and it's not the same from cycle to cycle. Ole's seems a bit variable, but not as bad. I found it's best to rely on my phone alarm instead of Neko for getting up. As her numbers got better, she didn't bug me for food as much, but when she's lower is when I really need to get up.

As for lower number strategy, the best way I found to learn it was to watch condo's where people were having low numbers, especially those who were new to it. At this point, if you feed Ole when he is lower, take good notes on the carb% and test to see how his BG reacts to it. Try no carb, LC, MC, HC and see what he does. Careful observation of the effects of different carb foods will help you when Ole is lower. ECID and higher dose cats are even more unique. I have to be careful with Neko, as a higher % low carb food can get her pancreas working and take her numbers down instead of up. So when she is in really low numbers, I have to resort to no carb or HC.

Good Morning ~O)

He is indeed recovering from the bounce quickly.

Can you elaborate- Low number strategy to. . . . . ???
(I'm still on my first ~O) )

Hi,

It looks like Ole had a bit of a food spike and is coming down again.

Can you elaborate- Low number strategy to. . . . . ???

I just mean that I have to watch the lower numbers differently than watching Ole's high numbers and big bounces. I have to, with help from you wise ones, learn to read Ole in yellow, blue and green numbers not the pinks reds and other unmentionable colors. I believe it is a bit more nuanced.

Gotta run!

Thanks again everybody.

Re: 2/4 Ole AMPS 387 +2 414 +5 288

You may not see it being that you are in the thick of it but your current strategy is quite nuanced.

Ultimately you will figure out Oles next phase, the same way you figured out the current phase.
Recording responses, asking questions, getting feedback and using your instincts.

Food for thought-

Have you considered testing for high dose conditions - IAA and Acro?
Ole is approaching 8u - clearly a big gulper.
IAA and Acro are similar in that they require high doses.
However the reasons more insulin is required differ, so will a treatment strategy.
Knowing why Ole is a big gulper will give you the peace of mind that your strategies fit the condition.
Absent of a diagnosis, you may be barking up the wrong tree and as a result find the development of a nuanced strategy illusive.

Also, I'm sure I've likely asked before and forgotten - has Ole ever had any dentistry?
February is national animal Dental Heath month and many vets offer a discount for dentistry services this month.
I'm a huge fan of dentistry - it was BKs Achilles heel. Once it was fully addressed the changes were - quite dramatic.

mr greenie didn't want to miss celebrating last night's BEAUTIFUL nadir! Go Ole!

So far so good!

Hi all,

I had a whirlwind of a day and I'm exhausted so I'm off to hit the hay. Another busy day tomorrow. Alex will test before he goes to bed, and I'll test through the night. I'll address some of the questions brought up today, tomorrow.

G'night!
Rebekah
