yesterday

GM everyone,
It's snowing again and at least today I'm not working and don't have to deal with it :)
But more Wednesday :(
I think Sebastian is trying to keep me on my toes...another 35 for my boy last night. He shows absolutely no signs and either did Alex when he sky bombed down to 29. So much fun. It only took some ProPlan to get him back up but of course there was a big bounce this morning. I'm shooting through it then reducing. I was so hoping to get him OTJ again but it looks like he isn't going to be real cooperative. Or I'm doing something wrong.

He feels good though..except that I've noticed that he is pulling clumps of his hair out. I don't mean little clumps..big clumps and a lot at the same time. He hasn't balded himself anywhere. He has veryyyy thick fur. But I noticed this morning he is a little dandruffy. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have a great day everyone!

Prayers and vines to those who need them.

xoxo

Hi Caryl,
Wow, that was a steep drop and now bounce. I hope Sebastian settles down today. Has Sebastian been tested for Hyper-T? I ask because Stu started to pull out big clumps of his fur and later he tested positive for Hyperthyroid. Apparently pulling out of fur is one of the "symptoms" (but, of course, it could be indicative of many things). Has Sebastian lost weight? It might be a good idea to schedule a vet appointment and have full labs.

Have a good day today, and good luck with the reducie,

Ella & Rusty

Hi guys .. nice catch on that 35! I know mocha dipped down into the 20's before and never showed signs either .. I don't think it's a matter of you doing anything wrong, but I have heard it is harder getting a cat to go OTJ the second time .. but it doesn't mean it won't happen! Bummer on the fur pulling, I have no experience with that .. have a great day guys!

Hi Ella,
Yes he had full Senior lab about a week after I brought him home and realized he was diabetic again (end of December). His T4 was totally in normal range. I always look for that because Alex was hyper-T. No, if anything he has gained a little.

Thanks for the thought though :)

The most history I have is that Sebastian can drop fast so I always test him when I'm going out or going to bed to see where he's at. I learned with Alex that each day is different not just each cat. I never had an OTJ kitty so I know nothing. I hope it can happen for him but if it doesn't, it doesn't. I'm just not exactly sure of how to do it. I'm kind of treating him like he is Alex and hard to dose and i don't know if he is. He just seems like he is

Wow, Sebastian likes to surprise his bean! I'm glad he looks like he is surfing a reasonable number today ;-) Chyna pulled her fur out when we discovered her allergies, but she was also itching. I hope you can find a reason for it. Hope you're having a good day! :-D

J.D. pulls his fur out in big clumps sometimes. Sometimes it looks like there was a massive cat fight by the hair on my carpet, but no bald spots. The vet won't give him steroids. It seems to be seasonal.

Any chance it's an allergy? Are you feeding beef or fish flavors? If so, maybe try eliminating those flavors and see if it improves.

Beef and fish can cause this? Yes I feed him all flavors!

I know. Surprise. Beef and fish are the two most common food allergies in kitties.

ETA: Read the labels on all of the labels. For example, FF turkey or chicken has fish in it.
