Great visit with our new Vet and she specialize in cats. She knew about Dr. Lisa and Binky's food charts.

I think she was over loaded with the details that I had. I left here with a copy of Rex's numbers.
Showed her how to read the SS.

She is running a urinalysis and we will hear the results in 3 days. She was totally in line with our goal of maybe getting Rex's diabetes controlled by diet.

Her new office is also 1.5 blocks away from the house, and she DOES house calls. OMG

Makes me want to move to Seattle too! A good & understanding vet is so difficult to come by these days. :?
Clear the bounce Rex! We want to see you in the lower floor!

Congrats on the new vet! I think it would be great if you can continue to work to get him off DM.

Goodness, Rex! A little green and you got a little dramatic. :-D

Marje, Rex was taking your request seriously. He is now in the southern portion of the blues. :)

He should be at his nadir, but will double check again in about an 30 minutes since he has drop so far from his PMPS.
Would like to keep him in blue to minimize a bounce if possible.

And I have only replace 1/8 can of Purina DM with Merrick Cowboy. :)

Re: 2/3 Rex PMPS 439 +2 365 + 4.5 130

That's a rather dramatic way to clear that bounce! Rich, have you fed Rex anything since PMPS? A little food might help him ease up a bit. Feeding meals in smaller mini meals at the beginning of the cycle can help ease the drops.

And it's good that you'll test again to see where he's going. I know each cat is different (ECID) but I find that Neko nadir's later if she starts higher.

Re: 2/3 Rex PMPS 439 +2 365 + 4.5 130

Wendy, I have not fed him anything since his dinner at 7pm.

So looks like he is at his nadir. He went up 3 points in 30 minutes. Will hang out and test again in another 30. If he continues on up, then will goto bed.

Re: 2/3 Rex PMPS 439 +2 365 + 4.5 130

The 130's would be an awesome place for Rex to surf a while.

Breaking meal into mini meals is supposed to be easier on the pancreas. I give Neko about 1/3 of her food at PS, then the rest split into +1, +2, and +3. Neko won't graze, she'll eat everything put in front of her right away. Different people have different strategies for their cats, depending on whether or not they like to dive early in the cycle and whether they are grazers or hoovers.

Re: 2/3 Rex PMPS 439 +2 365 + 4.5 130

It is worth investigating - I could start out with a test to see if 1/2 meal at PS and the other 1/2 at +1 to see what kind of difference that makes. Thanks for sharing!
