Good morning, it seems Tommy is holding tight to the yellows for the last couple of days. I am hoping that this the last of the pinks and we are headed towards the BLUES..and GREENS. I have been doing the spot checks at night after work. I was unable to run a curve over the weekend due to working late during the night on Saturday and not waking up early enough on Sunday to do it. This diabetes thing really tests your patience!! I am trying to wean Tommy off needing two people to hold him (with a towel) and doing his testing. He still doesn't like it and moves around a bit sometimes. Once we can get passed that, BF can run some spot checks and maybe a curve during the week. Right now it is just evening spot checks and weekend curves.

Happy Leap Year! flip_cat

They often say that flat yellows mean the kitty is on their way to a run of blues and greens. It will be much better once Tommy gets the hang of testing. I know it doesn't seem like it will happen, but it will. Patience is definitely the name of the game. I never realized how very little I had until FD. Have a great day!!

Thank you Melissa and Tarragon (I love the name!) I am praying for blues & green. My big boy definitely doesn't like it, but I think he understands mom and dad have to do it for him to feel better. He also hates the vet and god knows he does not want to go there every other week for a curve!

Hi guys .. yep, often yellow cycles can lead to some nice blues and greens .. hoping that is the case for tommy! I know how hard it is to work with a kitty that requires two people .. mocha could care less if we tested her .. but when it came to shot times, oh my .. it was a battle every single day for us .. So I applaud you for working with him .. have a great day guys!

I hope so...from your lips to God's ears! Its tough to see our babies not feeling well and struggling with this ugly disease.

I hope everyone has a great day.

It took 2 of us to test Black Kitty in the beginning. I'll never forget the day I managed my first "solo" test - I could not believe I did it! To say I had a sense of great accomplishment would be an understatement.
Shortly after that DBF managed a "solo" test and things got much easier. The treats are key for us. BK now sits and drools while I test him - he knows after the poke comes the treat

Good job at getting some more spot checks since you increased. :-D

It's so much to wrap your mind around - figuring out how to test, shoot, feed, what the numbers mean, keeping the ss up to date, learning to speak and think in FD lingo. . .
working it all into your daily routines. . .

You guys are getting the hang of it!

Thank you Sandy! I absolutely love this website and spend time at work looking at everyone numbers and advice. I learn so much from everyone here. The diagnosis is so overwhelming at first, but this website has helped me get my bearings.
