Good afternoon,
Mookie's amps shocked me this morning! I'd rather have him stay in blue or yellow all the time than bounce between green and black. Can anyone make any sense of these numbers? I don't believe they are a result of his diet or his meal times.

My thoughts today are with those who are ill or in any way suffering.

Hi Randa, that was a high AMPS. Could she have gotten into some kitty crack? She's coming down nice though!

Hi, Ann. The only thing we did differently last night was that I used the auto feeder for the first time. He had a snack of 2 teaspoons of FF classic chicken at 4:30am. I know he ate it then because the sound of the darn thing whirring woke us and scared both cats half to death. I had to carry Mookie into the kitchen for the snack and sit with him while he ate it out of the big scary plastic noise-making floor monster. :lol:

:lol: Poor Mookie! FF Classic chicken is lc, so that was okay. Sometimes Maggie is high in the mornings as she free feeds and eats close to the two hours before I test and shoot.

Mookie sure takes his bouncing seriously! He also pretty sincere about leaving the black floor behind. Good boy Mookie!

What time is his shot? Do you have the 5 compartment feeder? What time do you have it closing? We just started using one with Zener so that he would get a little food overnight and minimize the scarf-and-barf in the morning. We put regular food in one compartment that is available from 1-3 am then freeze-dried chicken available from 3-4 then nothing until test and feed around 5:30.
I agree, this black and green thing is no good. He is coming down, very nice to see.

Hi, Liz: His shot is at 7:30, and yes, it is the 5-slot feeder. Typically either DH or I give him a snack of LC something around 1:30am, and then he isn't getting anything until he wakes me at 5:00am for a snack. I'll try it again this evening so that he can get used to it, and also try having it open earlier, like from 3:30am to 4:30am.

I think this is a bounce or Mookie Just Being a Cat! If there is no other explaination, it is just rebound from
the 87 of last night! Not to worry, Mookie Monster is doing Great!!
Just a little panic by Mr. Liver, he'll go down maybe by tomorrow..or so...

It took Zener a few nights to get used to the thing. I do worry that he will be eating when it switches and will be so traumatized he'll never go near it again. :roll: Paws crossed!

This certainly looks like a bounce and it looks like Mookie is coming down nicely. (Although, my old eyes do have trouble reading your SS.)

I would try to not feed Mookie after nadir, if that's at all possible. If you are feeding past nadir, there's less insulin available to offset the effect of food. At the very least, I would suggest not feeding 2 hours before shot time. Otherwise, you don't know whether food is inflating your pre-shot numbers.

Mookie needs a snack around +9, but rather than wet food I can try freeze dried chicken. He's never fed after the +9 snack until shot time.

SS now has a larger, bold font!
