2/28 Ruby AMPS 76/+2.5 59/+4 67/+6 74/+8 88/PMPS 113/+2 100/+4 77

I would be a very happy mama bean if every AMPS was a 76, but Ruby has her own plans always. :bighug:

I want to thank you again for alerting me to your Weruva (I don't know why I've been calling it Weruvia lol) chart with all the calories/ounce notes. It made things much easier to search for some food options. I got some Funk in the Trunk, Douple Dip, Meal of Fortune and Meowiss Bueller which arrived yesterday. So far Buddy is not loving the Double Dip ot Funk in the trunk. He first refuses and then if nothing else appears he might have a few bites. It's strange because he chows down immediately on almost anything else. I do notice a very gummy consistency on especially Double Dip. But he doesn't even want to try at first so he must smell something he doesn't want. I'm a bit bummed because I love the calorie density. But could be good to keep anyway on the days when there's no slowing him down.

I'm so glad you were able to make use of the information! It was driving me a little crazy looking up everything on the Weruva website so it became more convenient for me to have it all in the spreadsheet which makes it easy for me to share. Re: Double Dip and Funk in the Trunk, those weren't Ruby's favorites either. She tends to like the ones with some fish in it, either as meat or as broth. I know fish isn't great, but if I can get her to eat anything then we're making progress. I also add warm water to her foods so it smooths out the gumminess. Meowiss Bueller is one of Ruby's favorites, and I laugh everytime I think of the name. :) Have you thought about transitioning Buddy to raw? It's much more dense calorically than these watered down foods with all of the fillers. The premade frozen are expensive but I recently experimented with store bought ground organic free range turkey with EZ Complete and it's about the same cost as or maybe a little less than Weruva per ounce. You might be able to get away with feeding him less.

Buddy is FIV positive and I'm a bit careful with raw foods because his immune system is compromised. Before I knew about that and while he was still outdoor I did feed him some raw for a stretch and he really went for it. It was called Smallbatch. He loved the chicken version. After reading about risks to FIV+ cats I decided not to give him those anymore. But then I am also reading some counter arguments these days so I've actually been wondering about trying it again.

From what I've seen, conventional vet wisdom is against raw feeding, but it seems like a lot of the concern is that humans will contaminate their own food by poorly handling raw food meant for their pets. Laurie at FoodFurLife and Raw Feeding for IBD kitties is a big advocate, not only of raw but of feeding raw to immunocompromised cats: https://www.foodfurlife.com/why-you-should-feed-your-immune-compromised-cat-raw-food1.html#/. She is very convincing, but is of course only one voice among many about the issue.

I'll read hear thoughts on it too. Mabe if we get his numbers under control I can start experimenting with the food again. At the moment I don't really want to risk anything else going wrong.
Big yes from Buddy on the Meowiss Bueller. Seems he and Ruby are on the same page.

PMPS +4 = 77. The rest of Ruby's day was not as rosy. It's been a struggle to get her to eat. I put the food in front of her on the bed, on the couch, in a metal bowl, in a plastic bowl, nudging her with a few kibbles scattered on top. I gave her a ball of SEB around 4 PM but it didn't help. Tonight she barely finished her PMPS meal and even though I gave her some anti-nausea meds two hours ago she will not touch any food right now. I am going to wait until tomorrow morning to give her cyproheptadine, as I have never given it to her before and want to monitor. She will be fine if she doesn't eat tonight and will set an alarm to get her +6.

Just dropping in to encourage Ruby! So happy she ate today on her own, with beautiful BG numbers to boot. :bighug:

ETA: I posted before I read your latest. I’m so sorry she didn’t eat well tonight. I hope the new med works. Ruby, eat your fuds for your Mama!!
