2/27-Shakes-amps 513 - threw up 2x this morning

I just dont have a good feeling today
We ve never seen black and he has been up since 3:30am and threw up twice
I upped his dose and gave him a fat 3.6 with a new vial
Not going to be a good day
 
Good Morning Denise,

Not happy to read this report about Shakes at all. Was he throwing up after eating or throwing up bile? Have you tested him for ketones? Were you able to get a test during the early morning hours?

I think it may be time for a visit to the vet to make sure there are not any underlying issues/infection. Also may be time to start collecting more data. Very hard to theorize on what may be going on without a fuller picture. How is Shakes doing now? Litter box action? Checked his breath for that acetone type smell?

Checked his breathe it is ok
He peed in the middle of the night so no check on ketones
he is eating good, just got mad at me cause I wanted to recheck his numbers
using different meters

so I guess he really is that high
I have to go to work but I will leave early today
he was at the vets just a couple of weeks ago and all is good
his teeth are almost due but he just had 5 teeth pulled 6 months ago so she wants to wait a little

he threw up water from what it looked like, so he must have drank a lot of water
last night
 
Ok Denise. I'm sure Shakes will be fine today. I think we all need to brainstorm tonight about him. Try not to have too much worry while at work. He'll come down. :YMHUG:
 
Aw man. Shakes, my man, what are you up to boy? Sounds like he's trying to help flush out whatever but couldn't handle all that water in his tummy. Poor boy. Hope the fat 3.6 does the trick for him today. :YMHUG:
 
Hopefully, Shakes just is a little off and nothing serious. The first thing I thought of with the throwing up , and appearing like water, is pancreatitis. When Kitty has her Ptitis flare ups-- her numbers go up and she throws up what looks like water/bile. But, her appetitie normally goes down--so, I don't know.

Please keep us update-- hopefully he is better when you get home.
 
Sorry Shakes is having a bad day, but it could be just like us people. We have bad days, sometimes bad weeks :-x

Anyway, I saw where you said the Relion meter posted - HI. Alex has, over the course of the last year, had numbers in the 500s, but my Relion meter has never registered HI--just the plain old number. I wonder why that is.
 
Sorry that Shakes isn't feeling well, I am sending prayers for him.
Check for ketones tonight for sure.
If hes eating and hungry that is good.
Maybe hes just a little "off" today and not feeling his best, so hes getting these super high numbers.
I'll be thinking about you guys today, I know its is difficult for you to have to leave him this morning.
Will check in for update later this evening when I get back from dentist.

Oh Denise, so sorry to hear about SHakes and all you are going through. I'm sure it was tough leaving him this am. I will be praying for both of you and that he heals up soon!

I've seen a couple of people indicate numbers in the 500s that say they have a ReliOn meter - maybe it's a different version - I have an "Ultima". Mine (and I just re-read the manual again this morning) will register a HI when it reaches 500. A couple of times, I was shocked to see it, retested a couple of times, getting more HI's, then finally just shot as though it was a 500. Never seemed to be any different reaction than shooting into a 450, so I would just treat it as that and go forward.

Interesting to see the difference in the Freestyle! GEEZ - no wonder people speak so badly about it!

Hope Shakes and you are doing better by the time you read this.

his +9.5 was 297....but he seems in good spirits
its funny though because his coat has a lot of dandruff which I really dont think he has ever had
I have heard people say that is a sign, but why is that appearing after almost 2 years
and also his neuropathy coming back....
I dont understand what is happening
could he be in a state of rebound for the last month since the meter mess...
or has he just changed...one thing though he still has an execellent appeatite
none of this makes sense
oh and he did not throw up today since this moring
 
I am glad Shakes is better. I know it is so frustrating for you-- he had appeared in good numbers for so long and his neuropathy was so much better.

Hopefully, things will improve soon.

First off....Super relieved about Shakes. I called my husband this morning upset...he was like, "Shakes? Who's that?" I speak of you all like I know you...and in a sense, I do.

This is what I noticed about Jax, when his numbers starting going higher when we stated the new vial I started to notice small changes. He had dandruff before the dx...which is a sign. Once he got on the juice...it vanished. A few days ago I started seeing the flakes again and it seemed like his back leg was getting worse from the neuro. Small changes but I notice everything.

The dandruff in Shakes may be a way of his body telling you the diabetes is not controlled and I don't even mean regulated. Not trying to alarm you, or freak you out, but I noticed the same thing in Jax when he got to the 400's.

I am hoping this is the new vial and it is stronger in potency than the last one!
 
Denise I'm praying for a good rest of the week for you and Shakes. Seems like a few of us got off on the wrong paw with numbers today. Hugs

Glad to hear hes not vomiting anymore and eating well.

So glad to see Shakes getting better. i was worried about him. Hope he continues to get better and lower. Do you know why he was vomiting?
 
It looks like Shake's numbers are better today :smile: That's good news! Still praying for a good rest of the week!

for me when I was freakin!
He is doing better today, low 400's, wish it was better since I opened a new bottle yesterdau
but it had the same lot number as the crappy bottle so I am thinking I need to buy another bottle
but we shall see what happens over the next couple of day!
